Royalupnorth May I say that having seen the Cole injury last night, I think we are about to find out that he has joined the unenviable ACL club currently sporting members such as Sonko.

Hyperextended the knee, looked like an ACL rupture caused once again by someones boots getting stuck in the ground.

Do they both wear studs or blades? I have a theory that blades knacker knees more easily.

100% agree
Skiing used to be the most common way of injuring your ACL. But now we have clever systems that release your foot out of the ski just before your ligament goes Pop.
Boot manufacturers are finding ways of keeping your foot in the ground and not letting it slip any where - blades. Result - more ACL's ruptured than ever before.

Have heard people blame the pitches in the premiership, but I am seeing at least double the ACL ruptures of 5 years ago in amateur footballers and they don' play on premiership pitches!!

Plus blades have been implicated heavily in the 5th metatarsal fractures.

But if you've put millions into developing a system, your not going to admit there are flaws are you?

I thought it's just that they don't make ACLs like they used to.

Baines is in the U21 squad, paving the way for Shorey's call up to the full team. ;)

More importantly though Lita has deservedly got an England U21 recall!

Pleased for Lita almost deserved full international call-up, not many English strikers in the Prem playing as well as him at the moment.

haha, very optimistic. i cant see it happening really, not because he's a bad player but because most of england will say "who?" and after walcott got picked for the world cup im sure that's the last thing mclaren needs... friendly or not.

That can't be right, at least the England management aren't 'officially bored of watching him'

Here's a nice bit of humble pie, will Mr Royal "my intellect refuses to accept that I was wrong." Rother eat it?

When I first read that I thought that he has improved recently but a full England call-up you're having a laugh.
Then I thought there's Rooney and then there's...........er Rooney. so not so stupid after all especially with Bent and Ashton injured.
With the earlier debate about left-backs and Gary Neville having 80 plus caps for England it then hits home-England is in a pretty sorry state.

Confirmed as posterior cruciate, not anterior.
Bad, but not as bad. They claim he will play again this season.
Not sure about that, but good luck to him.
 at my mistake.

And Andy Johnson injured as well.

However, Crouch will play alongside Rooney against Spain.

As for Shorey at left back, I seriously doubt if McClaren has seen him play this season, and will go for Bridge to start and Phil Neville as back up. (Though because the media have mentioned Baines, he may get into the squad as well).

Baines already named in U21 squad yesterday, so be surprised if he's included in both squads.

Yup, Phil Neville's in there and also Gareth Barry. Oh well. To be fair it's not like Shorey's got a real chance at an international career, it would just have been nice to see some recognition and a night on the bench before Cole returns.

If Lita continues his scoring form it shouldn't be too long before we have a full international

50 caps, playing full back in a team that's done as well as us, versatile, actually got some pace unlike shorey, why not?

Silver Fox Have a look at the goalkeeper against Spain and see if you still believe McLaren picks his side based on current form

Of course it's not based on current form. If it was then the England team would change every game.

Well, I didn't think David James wouldn't even be in the squad!
