Oh dear me. Royal Rother looks around desperately for something negative and decides to latch onto Lita. What a fool he is.

Let's look at the facts, shall we?

1) Lita is only 21. He has years ahead of him to learn how to play in the Premiership.

2) It's his first season in the Premiership.

3) He's just come back from a serious broken leg injury.

Also, I would hardly call the time at Wigan a sitter, he still had to beat Kirkland, who did well to keep the ball out.

Nevertheless, I do think we're missing Kitson. At this level, I don't think we can rely on one striker. Lita is young and can improve. To say that you are bored with him shows how much you know and how much patience you have.

Stranded I like Long but he has not proved at all that he could handle 90mins at the top level right now. He offers an excellent alternative off the bench with 20 to go as his pace can worry tiring defenders.

Had we had another better option you could be right, we don't so there we go.

I just have found Lita so utterly ineffectual, in identically the same way each game, that I am wondering whether it is worth playing him when it seems pretty obvious that he (or the game he is playing at the moment) is so easy for top defenders to handle.

As you suggest though, he would probably be better getting on the end of chances in the box, but we're not really creating any / many so haven't seen him in that situation.

I just think we might as well see if something else could work for a longer period of a game. Okay Long was ineffective against Darlington but he was not playing with the 1st team squad. Small factor, but relevant nonetheless.

Incidentally I was just chatting to a Man Utd supporter who thought Doyle had a good match, far batter than Lita, and that Long also did very well when he came on. So there you go!

That means nothing, someone has probably asked royalee how we played on Saturday and he told them Hunt was crap so don't take whatver oppo fans say as fact, it's just an opinion.

Lita isn't playing the same role as he likes, he's our Cureton esque predator around the box but circumstances (Kitson's injury) has made it so he's the one having to do some of the dirty stuff and winning the flick ons instead of being on the end of them. He just needs a goal from somewhere, anywhere.

Oh and Lita played in that game and scored twice despite playing in a '2nd' team  Second goal was class first was a poacher's goal.

He'lll get goals, let's also not forget he's still a very young player learning his trade. He's definitely improved in certain areas of his game, to say he's been ineffective against top defenders is probably right so far... but there is a reason they are top defenders. Has Doyle been effective? I like Doyle as much as anyone but penalty aside against Man U, did he do a lot else? Saturday? (Royalee don't go off on one, just a bit of debate)

Their have been times when both of them have looked a real threat Sheff Utd where both could have had a couple each, Villa before Leroy had to go off, Wigan Leroy could and probably should have nicked us an undeserved point. So despite the flaws there's optimism with both of them.

Of course it means something AP!

It's another opinion out there that is equally as valid as anyone else's.

Except you have to acknowledge that this one is completely untainted with any bias.

And Spacey, for God's sake, what took you so long!? (And did you miss an "r" out of your last word?)

A stupid opinion.

Without bias? I don't know, you're prejudiced against anyone you think doesn't play the football the way you think it should be played.

I look forward to us frustrating Arsenal.

We're discussing the Man Utd supporter's opinion.

If we had another striker like Kitson and weren't playing him for Lita, then I'd be worried.

But we don't

And we can't get one in

But when Kitson's fit again, I hope to see a different Lita.

Do you think will Lita get much of an opportunity to play with Kitson?

Only as a sub, tbh, or if Doyle gets injured.

Long runs funny - all stiff legged with no arm action.

I don't like him.

Excellent re U21s but do I really have to point out the fact that he was very poor up to the time that he was dropped, but now is performing much better? However there is still an awful lot to work on because despite his obvious talent as a finisher some of his outfield work and link up play is still pretty rank. At his current rate of improvement we will have, in Doyle and Lita, £25m worth of talent up front at the end of the season.

It is quite obvious that Lita took wise council from some old heads (bald ones, I'll say no more than that) and has worked at his game. Credit should go where credit is due. I thank you.

Wouldn't it have been better if he'd taken counsel instead?

His link-up play is obviously improving too, IMO. A lot.
