daswonder According to a Pompey fan that posts on another board that I am on, McClaren admitted that he hasn't viewed a single Pompey or Reading game this season in an interview to a local paper.

So there is the reasoning.

This does n´t surprise me at all, he just seems to pick top four team players and those from Middlesboro and a few from Spurs. The man is a twat and not fit to be England manager.

According to the Spanish papers ,Lita will not start tonight for the u-21, Young, Walcott and Abinyouer or whatever his name is. Most of the team is made up of out of form players, why do we never pick players in form ,always players who have played well in the past? Hope Pearce gives Leroy a starting position, but doubt he will.

The main team I read will not have the option of Wayne Bridge at left back as he is injured so Phil Neville will fill in, we always fill in. We know how Lampard can play, we know how Garrard can play, pick players who might be able to play ,Shorey etc.

I reckon MacClaren will be as bigger flop as Sven , a complete change should have been made when we got rid of that idiot, completely new coaches, scouts, advisers etc.

Still thank God the FA did n´t take .Sir Steve . Of course they never will he talks too much sense and probably is n´t Sky Sports material, what a joke the FA is when one looks at the twats they have appointed over the past 30 years, no Brian Clough, Bill Shankly, Bob Paisley the list is full of non "yes men" who were not appointed. I have given up on following the England team.

Not sure I'd read too much into what the Spanish papers say - they're probably just going on previous U-21 teams. Pearce obviously rates Lita (even more so after Saturday :D ) and none of Walcott, Young or Agbonlahor have scored 6 goals all season, let along 6 in 7 league games like Leroy. He made a very tongue-in-cheek reference to leaving Lita out as revenge for his goals against City, which suggests to me he'll probably play him.

I heard that the team will probably be a 451 formation with Nugent as the lone striker.

how can maclaren leave out shorey who is the in form left back in the premiership and put in neville who hasnt played left back and he already knows wat he brings to the team. however shorey is an unknown quantity and isnt that wat friendlies are for, giving new players a chance.

Neville-why?
Gareth Barry has at last been picked for the squad after 3(?) years out.
An adaptable player capable of playing in a number of positions like Phil Neville, but better.

You lot should just accept that Maclaren has already shown his only bit of bottle by dropping Beckham. From then on its about if-your-face-fits, which it more or less has been the last five years.

Too right. And the decision to drop Beckham looks increasing like a desperate attempt to distance himself from the Eriksson, where in reality little has changed.

It's always been club over country for me, but I never thought I would end up caring so little about the national team. Things have just steadily gone down hill, and the blame goes a lot further than just Eriksson.

Rant aborted just in time.
