LoyalRoyal13 Love - Sorry to be repetitive but I'm gonna say Glen Little. SkySports claimed that Bolton's Kevin Nolan was the "unluckiest British player" at the moment. What rubbish! I genuinely can't see a better English right-winger at this moment in time! The man is a wizard with the ball at his feet and really doesn't get enough credit & attention! Plus he's a really top bloke!

Hate - Seol. This guy has no passion whatsoever! His inability to challenge for the ball or indeed make the slightest tackle makes him my least-liked player. The guy has talent but really looks out of place in a Reading side which contains for me a team of lads who (the majority) wear their hearts on their sleeves and I'm afriad Seol just doesn't do enough for my liking!

Love - Kevin Doyle and Leroy Lita - Two quality strikers, who have got us where we are today with their goals for the last couple of seasons, and only costing just over a million pound. Wonder how much they are worth together now....?

Hate - John Halls - What a waste of time and money. Every time I have seen him play he has been a dissapointment. Even the game he scored in against stoke he was woeful.

Huntley & Palmer HATE/LOATHE -

Hahnemann. Purely and simply one of the most mediocre goalkeepers we have had, seems to live on some sort of reputation gained from not being as shit as Whitehead and Howie. Goes down like a sack of shit for low saves, then tends to spill them if he gets there as well. Goes to prove that Wesley Snipes was right in not only basketball but also American goalkeepers, might help if he lost some bulk by not going to Chilli's three times a week. Comes over to the crowd after every game as if he is some sort of hero. No matter what he does, i'm blinded by his inability.

That is the same MH who is right up among the best according to Actim? But why should we let facts cloud an emotional issue?

Love - Sonko. I love the sheer fact that he is so completely dominant in the air. I love his comedy clearences, his last ditch tackles, and his occassional moments when he thinks he is Glen Pele.

Hate - Stephen Hunt. I know he is a trier, but he is the only current first team player that I fear will lose the ball when they get it. He is a better version of Andy Hughes. Bring back Bobby!

LOVE:

So many, but HARPER. For years now has been my favourite player, his commitment, willingness to learn and improve and desire to be the fittest man on the planet makes him the number 1 for me. He has his limits as a player and I know he passes sideways/dwells on the ball too long sometimes, but you can see he's trying to improve this part of his game.
Not only that, but his value to the squad due to his personality is priceless.
The man is all what a premiership footballer should be

HATE:

Tough one. HUNT. Purelt for the fact that he's stopping Convey getting in the team.

Historically:

Love: Quinny, Hartenburger, Osborn, Gilkesy (saw him in comet today), MacPherson

Hate: HUGHES, Lambert,

I don't allow my judgement to be clouded by some clown that thinks a striker shooting a trickler from 35 yards that a goalkeeper picks up, counts as a save.

Love 'em all,the long, the little and the tall.
I'd whittle it down to Kitson,Harper and Little for various reasons if pressed.
The nearest to a hate would be Convey or Hunt but that would only be for things they do in parts of games.

I agree with the original poster that Osborn could do no wrong and yes I think we are all guilty of being RTG about our preferred players.
Some past hates:-
Hughes
Jones
Rougier
Gray
Howie
Gurney
McIntyre
Crawford
Sheppard
Meaker
Morley
McPherson
Bodin
Maskell
Leworthy
Gernon
Elsey
Crown
Williams
Barnes
Barker
That's just the last 30 years and averages only about 2 every 3 seasons.

Huntley & Palmer LOVE -

Leroy Lita. Purely and simply the most deadly finisher this club will ever clap eyes on (yes better than Cureton before people start pointing it out). Lethal around the box, outside the box, inverted in the air and with his head. Love his bulldog celebration, love his couldn't give a toss attitude, love the fact that he plays for us as I'd be swearing my oxf*rd arse off at him every time he played against us

TBF, the whole point of the thread is about your irrationally emotional response to players, not a rational analysis of the statistics. Being statistically the best does not mean you will be loved by all and sundry...

Anyway...by the parameters set by a surprisingly well-thought out question by Maguire,

LOVE - Blakey. By all the laws of physics, he shouldn't be capable of doing what he does, but he is and he draws cheers/gasps from the crowd whenever he slips past yet another flat-footed defender and leaves them trailing. Just wish he wouldn't stop, go back and try to beat them again for good measure...not being cruel or owt, but maybe the uglier you are, the more beautifully you can play the game - see Ronaldhino & Peter Beardsley to name, but two.

HATE -The word is probably TOO emotional because there isn't a player at the club who I can say I actually hate and mean it in that way, but, purely in the context of this debate - Seol. He blew in like a breath of fresh air and looked the business early on, scoring important goals which, let's not forget, have actually earned us 9 of our 43 points. Going so totally off the boil whilst all around have prospered and pulled their weight is disappointing, but I sincerely hope he comes back strong and proves his worth to the squad. He would have to have more than one decent game again, though...

Love: Mass Sarr

Without a doubt the most wonderfully gifted footballer ever to play our National game. I am still sure he would have gone on to grace the Premiership, had he not been scythed down with such regularity by visiting defenders, and been so horribly maltreated by purveyors of fast food on the Oxford Road.

Hate: Kevin Doyle

The most lazy, untalented, journeyman footballer I have seen grace the hoops. Terrible first touch, regularly puts in zero effort, and his transfer fee was astronomical for a samll club like ours. He also did everything he could to try and miss that penalty against Man U, but as he's such a carthorse he scored by accident.

Indifferent: Coppell

What's he ever done for us?

I'd like to add Andy Hughes as a hate. The puffed out cheeks, the constant, never ending inability to do anything clever, the poor crosses, the slightly receding hair, the faux cheeky manner with referees, the bad goal celebrations, the look of grim determination when he ran out, the allegations of gambling addictions, the fact that Trdder got (mostly incorrect) reading stories from him, the unremitting mediocrity of him and most of all the way he persuaded managers that the effort he gave could in some way make up for his lack of skill.......
