By my reckoning, even though it's an away game where we only get 40% of the gate receipts, this match will still produce a new Reading FC receipts record!

Someone I know spoke to Mr Mad after the draw who admitted from his point of view it was the best draw although he did concede not from the fans point. He mentioned a figure of £1.4m to Reading with share of the gate and tv monies.

Its only the F.A Cup.
Who cares?
Its always the same teams who win it,i.e Arsenal,Man Utd,Liverpool etc.
If Norwich beat Chelsea id LMFAO.

From The Times
February 15, 2007
Coppell relishes thrill of Reading’s adventure
Russell Kempson

Manchester United at Old Trafford: it is the most daunting of draws, the fifth-round tie that no one wanted. Yet from Steve Coppell, the Reading manager, it produced only a wry smile. To take his team to his old stamping ground on Saturday — for the second time this season — will be a pleasure.

Coppell, the former United winger, treats success and failure with the same low-key equanimity that has helped Reading to rise to an unlikely sixth place in the Barclays Premiership. Instead of the “Râ€

I reckon our team for this game will be something near this:-

Federici
Sodje
Bikey
Ingimarrsson
De La Cruz
Seol
Oster
Gunnarsson
Convey
Kitson
Doyle

Subs:
Hahnemann
Lita
Little
Hunt
Harper

Ark Royal For some inane and unfathomable reason, I really think we are going to nick this 2-1. Watching the game at the Globe pub in Chicago.

Man U 2 - 3 Reading

It's meant to be, we're going all the way to the final with 3-2 wins.

That's at least how I've justified putting a cheeky fiver on it at 100-1...

Man Utd 4-2 Reading

Our likely 11 will score goals, but a back 5 that are inexperienced and haven't played together much will struggle against their quaility.

Stick Murts and or Shorey in and it could be very different.

I would like to see a stronger team than the usual FA Cup XI (not to say they aren't good players) have a crack at United on Saturday.

My feelings are that we are now pretty much guranteed PL status next year with the chance of Europe (whether or not Europe will be good for us is a totally seperate issue), so why not go for the win at United with our strongest team?

I would like to see some emphasis placed back on the FA cup now. I could understand in the early stages of the season that our priorities were, quite rightly, to consolidate in the PL, but not now. We have a decent chance of progressing with United playing the CL game on the Wednesday, why not go for a quater final place?

The team have had a week off since Villa and will have another week off after Saturday. Coppell (I think) said players like to play week in week out, why not let a stronger team have a go? The premiership team (AKA Shorey, Murts, Sidwell, Harper etc.) would therefore not have played for 2 weeks when they travel oop North to Middlesborough if they miss United. Better they play once in 2 weeks than not at all?

My preferred team would be:

Federicci

Murts
Ingi
Bikey
Shorey

Glenda
Sidwell
Harper
Hunt / Convey

Doyler (If fit)
Lita

Subs
Kitson, USA, Convey / Hunt, Saint Le Cruz, Gunnarsson

Big Steve's probable team:

Federicci

Saint Le Cruz
Ingi
Sodje
Bikey

Gunnarsson
Seol
Oster
Convey

Kitson
Lita

Subs:

USA, Hunt, Doyle or Long, Little, Sidwell

Feel the best chance of getting through is up there. 2-1 Reading with the last 20 minutes resembling a scene from the Alamo in the Reading box.

If it goes to a replay would expect Utd to come down here and win 2 or 3 nil.

When i first heard the draw i was absolutely gutted, i thought we had no chance of getting through. But since then i have been feeling more confident, hearing that rooney is suspended, and van der sar is injured (even though he wouldn't have played anyway). So i'm going to be optimistic and say:
Man utd 2-3 Royals
Larsson------Kitson
Ronaldo-----Doyle
--------------Convey

2-0 down after 60 mins, 3 goals in the last 20 mins in an amazing comeback from the Royals, making it one of the FA cups classic games.

Well, we can all dream can't we!!
