Lack of atmosphere

by Boomer » 22 Feb 2007 00:52

Dear BBCRB can you explain how you manage to remove the sound of the crowd from all of your broadcasts? It makes the commentary sound flat and lifeless.

Switching to 107FM as I have done the background noise and obvious passion of the commentators makes for a much more enjoyable experience.

I think you've really lost a lead on 107 this season (last year you were no better but they were far worse). Isn't it time you did something about it?

I much prefer the commentary on BBC Berkshire, however I must agree with you about the crowd noise. It sounds like there are 1000 supporters in the crowd. I switched between 107 and BBC berkshire during the Newcastle game. Much better atmosphere with 107 as the crowd noise is highly audiable.

It's much better (IMO) when the commentators are raising the voices over the crowd.

Radio 5 always get the crowd noise too so why can't BBCRB and haven't they realised the difference it makes.

Can't agree with you about the commentary though. Not this season anyway. Too much irrelevent chat on BBC Berks. Much more passion and knowledge of the club on 107 but that's largely down to Gilksey. Love it when you can hear him in the background getting carried away when we score.

Now if Gilksey had been given a chance to exchange a few pleasantries with Mr Holt tonight I think he would have been left in no doubt how we all felt.

Are you suggesting Tim and Joel don't have passion? I'd say their knowledge and support is good.
