Royals Drummer I get feed back from fans and staff at the Madejski most of it is very positive, please cast your mind back to pre drums, and you must remember how quiet it was.

TBF, we weren't getting 24,000 crowds back in those days. As H&P has said, how about not using the drum for the Pompey game (or at least half of it). Might get a decent comparison then.

Its not about ego, and i agree with alot of the comments made.

I deliberately did not play at the pre season Friendly against Fyenoord to see what kind of atmosphere would be generated. I would not like to make that decision for a match that we had to win.

I have spoken previously to Coppel, Dillon, Murty and most of the team about the drumming, and they say that they do not like a quiet stadium as the players do get nervous. They appreciate the drums as this keeps the body of the crowd making noise.

i have even been moaned at by Wally as because the drums were deemed to be to quiet.

Finally, if the drums are so bad why have so many clubs adopted them this season? The idea is to lead the crowd, so that we all sing together making the best noise possible.

Choosing the Feyernord match when we had 12,000 and no atmosphere with exception of there fans wasn't a wise choice.

At the end of the day, the team will win because of performances on a pitch, not on a stand.

I don't wish this to seem like I'm having a total whinge, but please consider the following:

Feyenoord - there can't have been more than 12,000 there for a meaningless friendly. It's totally different when the stadium is rocking a la the second half on Tuesday when there were enough different chants being started without the aid of your drum - well, they were certainly in Y24 / Y25 (and I'm not talking about the moronic ones).

If the idea is to "lead" the crowd - that's fine when there is no singing but when there is singing why bang the drum to a totally different tune to one that has already started?

Huntley & Palmer Most certainly in my little pocket of B19 in the North Stand there are many attempts at singing that are blocked out by the drum. If it wasn't there dictating the entire stand, then it would be a different story I am sure. If people hear a bunch of people singing songs then they will join in, it doesn't have to be lead by a drummy

Drummer blokie, how about we move you to the North West corner?
They need help with noise that side, where as the East Stand and North Stand (pockets of) have improved immensely, and credit to you for helping.

Must say I thought the drummer at the Blackburn game last night was decent. Right down at the front of the stand jumping up and down giving it some.

Most people make an effort in their own way singing/drumming/shouting etc etc .. it seems like what it needed is for everyone N/S/E/W to be more joined up which creates the volume and i guess that is what the drummer is trying to do ... ! (IMO)

YOUR idea is to lead the crowd. When others start achant, as they frequently do in the north stand, let them get it going. Why not even try joining in, instead of drowning it out.

You are not our leader. You are just some self appointed bloke who would not be missed, once people realised that they don't have to wait for the same, repetitive crap to come out of the corner.

Leave it at home.
