Super Kevin Bremner! Interesting comments.

Just going through my phone pics from yesterday and was reminded of a very drunken conversation I had with a copper who was on a police horse. I gave him my phone to take a picture of me and some mates and he was cool about it.

Not all bad then.

I think we saw you before the game having the photo. The whole episode did look a bit embarressing and smacked of "our big day out in london".

Saw a bit of that last season in the League Cup game at Highbury. Four Reading fans, including two in their 30's, not knowing how to use the tube!

Look at Man United away at Liverpool, very few colours, hardened away support. Look at Reading at Arsenal, shirts and scarves. Possible plastics going away to a big club because it is a novelty.

Cynical? Yes.

Why is it few colours = hard support? I wonder at your reasoning.

because no normal person over the age of 12 would want to wear a shirt to a football match .
buying/wearing a shirt does not make you a hardened fan , the 50 pounds you spend on that shirt would be better spent on buying a few beers on match day .

I would agree with money better spent on beer. I have not bought a shirt since 2002. And I won't buy another one until they return the shirt to it's proper hoops.

But I still don't understand why no one over 12 can wear colours? Is this an unwritten law?

Royalee I particularly disliked the idiots who blocked off one of the streets for absolutely no reason and therefore extended our journey back to the car by five minutes for no reason.

Probably to stop people getting run over on Holloway Road (Not that the traffic was moving very fast).

Down by Highbury & Islington Station the Police were giving people a right telling off if they crossed the road and tried to jump the barriers, several were sent to the back of the queue!

Oh, Christ, here we go YET AGAIN...NOT buying a shirt and spending all that money on getting pissed before the game does NOT make you a hardened fan, either.
"Normal" people are not ashamed to be seen in their club's colours as they have nothing left to prove about themselves or their allegience to the club. If you don't want to wear colours because it makes you look like a poof, then you crack on...but leave people to make their own choices without branding them subnormal or abnormal. I 'm damn sure they don't give a shit about what you're wearing.
I've always thought - and I'll never change this view - that anyone who does gives a flying toss about fellow fans wearing colours has a very tiny mind and a very big complex about something that really, really shouldn't bother them at all.

I am 43,I wear a replica shirt to football and I always thought of myself as normal. Explain to me what makes me abnormal!

Also explain why 50 pounds spent on beer would be better then buying a shirt.

It's just another version of the age-old hobnob staple, "I'm a better fan than you because......"

Don't get involved, just walk on by.

No but the appeal of wearing your clubs shirt goes away with puberty....and/or a few seasons of continiously paying for ST, shirts, travel etc. Its still new and exciting for a lot of these fans but they'll find alcohol sooner or later.

Oh dear. I feel compelled to let you know my life story now and all about how I used to spend every weekend in Highbury for 2 years, about how I had sunk about 20 beers before the game, about how you're a cock and all that.

But it really wouldn't be worth the hassle ;)

Ever thought of the fact that some people can afford shirts & beer as well because they're adults who earn decent wages, spend it how they want and simply don't give a flying fcuk what you or anyone else think?

Evidently not.

No.1 football factory rule for acceptable hardcore football behaviour = drink lots of beer.
