buses to arsenal

by warrpp » 05 Mar 2007 08:23

why did the supporters club coaches leave and return from foster wheeler even though we left 4 hours before the rugby game at the madstad (the official reason given by star)

surely the build up to the rugby doesnt start 4 hours b4 a game

it could have all be done and dusted well before the rugger buggers took over the stadium ?

wasnt it possible to use the stadium or station hill as per normal, and if not, why not (10 coaches didnt take that long to load up)

umm

read my post, i mentioned the rugby

we left 5 hours (it started at 3pm) before it started, and 10 coaches do not take up 2,000 car parking spaces, they could have been in and out of there, with plenty of time for the rugby

So where would people have parked, as I said they needed the car park for the rugby, 10 coaches would have meant a lot of cars parked in the Madstad car park, each space sells for £7 for the rugger.

if you read the STAR forum you will see that Arsenal dictate that coaches must arrive by 1pm due to the parking and road restrictions they put in place around the ground

It's because they need the car park for rugby; the coaches aren't the issue, its the STAR members cars, where would they park?

crowd for the rugby game 10,000

a fair proportion of them getting the shuttle buses to the stadium rather than bringing their cars, so i'd say that there would have been plenty of space,in a car park that has 2,000 spaces?(i think?) for the star members to park their cars there while they went off to the arsenal game ?

plus couldnt have some of the buses pick up from station hill, for those who didnt find it that easy to get out to foster wheeler.

I've no idea how full the car parks are on Rugby match days and by the looks of it you're just guessing yourself, probably a lot busier than you imagine though.

And there is a dedicated coach that picks up from Station Hill to avoid ten coaches piling into the town centre, you can request to go on that one when you make your booking.

Even if the numbers are as you suggest, and even if there would have been plenty of space for STAR members to park their cars, it would have meant having to sell car park tickets to the STAR members, as otherwise how would they know that a car parked without a ticket belonged to someone who had gone on a coach to Arsenal, and not just some rugby fan who's arrived early, dropped their car off, got the p&r into town for a few sherbets, then p&r back to the Mad Stad?

Not sure what all the fuss is about anyway - just as easy to go to Foster Wheeler as it is the Mad Stad - they are hardly miles apart!
