readingbedding I remember 'Congradulations' By C Richard being played every week.

That was only played when a match was won. Did you only go to the easy games?

I had to stand on the wide open terraces of the Tilehurst end corner because I had a little son who wouldn't have seen a thing on the South Bank. So instead I couldn't hear a bloddy thing as the PA was so crap.

Are you sure? IIRC it was only played when we won and that certainly wasn't every week!!

Just realised I'm even further behind Dirk!

What is this, reminiscence week or what?

For what it's worth (which is nothing), these songs always remind me of games at Elm Park:

Wide world by Cat Stevens
Anything by the Carpenters
Fernando by Abba (promotion 76)
I want to break free by Queen (promotion 84)

I'm still taking the tablets.

We played Arsenal in the cup back in 1987, and some clever dick put together some Ra! Ra! type girls, that came over to the BBC MOTD cameras, and promptly did a dance to ITV's Big Match played over the tannoy. It had a 'burning roman candle' type quality. It had a village fete mentality, fuc-king embaressing!

Pre match song

by hobbit » 13 Mar 2007 21:30

From my distant memory the song played when the team came out onto the pitch in the late 60's early 70's was a keyboard/instrumental piece called Telstar

Now, unless my RTGs are playing up, I don't see a problem here.

"Simply the best" was played whenever we won. That was great.
