Still love hearing the old Reading tune but Kevin Girdler (sp). We always got to the ground at about 5 to the hour and you could hear it playing over the old speakers as we made our way to the South Bank. Good memories attached to that tune.

I can honestly say I can't remember a thing played over the pa at Elm Park, mainly due to it sounding like the speakers were made of a sheet of baking paper stretched over a baked bean tin but also because I was usually in the Hobgoblin til ten minutes before kick off.

I do remember a female pa announcer who filled in for a couple of games who was so inept she got booed every time she spoke. I also remember her forgetting to turn off the mic and moaning about everyone booing her. Sort of prooved our point, really

Let's not forget the final few seasons and the Thames Valley Jets - together with the sound system of a batter operated cassette player and a microphone on a long lead, and then into the EP speakers.

Never before has sound been reproduced so crappily to so many.

as 'Congratulations' was definitely not played before games during the earlier games at Elm Park. It was exclusively reserved for winning celebrations.

Joe lets face it none of those were a patch on the thames valley jets.................. with their ghetto blaster in the middle of the pitch.....won all sorts of competitions apparently.....

Someone should do a "Where are they now?" feature on them, I bet there are some well fit ones!!

Never mind the music or the Thames Valley Lolitas. What football really needs is a return to the days of alsations performing stunts at half time. That stupid scraggy little pooch we get at the Madejski every now and then just doesn't compare to an alsation falling off a ramp.

The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down by Joan Baez was played a fair bit during the miserable 70-71 season. Funny, but it's since become a favourite of mine, probably because of the demise of EP.

Obviously a little after the 70's but one of my main memories of the Elm Park PA is of them playing Fairground by Simply Red in the mid 90's on many a cold Saturday afternoon. I heard it the other day and brought back memories!

Louis Armstrong's ' It's a Wonderful World ' in the mid to late sixties when we were mixin' it with the likes of Gilliingham, Mansfield Town, Hartlepool, QPR, Hull City and the rest of those cellar dwellars.

You can stick with Louis but give me EPL any day.

i remember reading coming out to...little arrows, by leapy lee. the only possible reason i could ever see for this were the lines...here they come pouring out of the blue... little arrows for me and for you.(cheesy or what?)
