Is this a sweetener for them not going up and us part exchanging Curtis Davis in the summer?

I'm not so sure about Sodje, I personally do not think that he is strong enough when making a challenge. Postionally not great either.

IMHO

good move from him, esp due to lack of games this season in our first team, although has played well in reserves

Trust in Steve ( Sam has been our reserve team captain of late.....there are expectations of him)

I.M.O Sodje is in the same league as Long, either of them cannot compete in the Premiership but I wouldn't say die to either of them.

This move will be brilliant for him and as I've said for a long time now, a loan move for Long would be brilliant too. They need a few games under their belts and they need more experience.

Good luck Sam.

I would be shocked if he was still here next season, we're obviously going to sign Bikey, So Sonks, Ivar, Bikey, Doobs are all natural center halfs ahead of of Sodje. The fact they play Bryn out of position rather than Sodje says a lot. Add to that Alex Pearce and maybe a big money buy in the summer and there is no way Sodje will be a Reading player next season....

As for being reserve team captain, so was Bas!!

Isn't Sodje 6/7 years older than Long?

Yes?

Both of them still need experience, experience isn't just in age - also in standard.

They both need to play regularly and if Long got loaned to a Championship team it would do him good also.

Sams previous experience has been two leagues below us (at Brentford)

Not many (in our current squad) have had bridge such a big gap (Bankrupt team to Prem team)

This is his chance to find the middle ground.......and kick on from it

No surprise, Reading could probably field a whole team made up of centre-backs.

That's assuming that he is destined to always stay a centre back. He's not built like one, and generally relies on pace rather than height or bulk. I did hear talk that he was a potential Murty-replacement, so don't be so sure......

halford is seen as the long term replacement for murty, sodje apparently turned down a move to west brom in january in part ex for one of their defenders(curtis davies?) its only terrace talk but thats what i heard!

I think it was Luton that he turned down-only "seating " talk in the East Stand.
