With attitudes like this I'm not suprised that loads of people started seeing Reading either again or for the first time xmas 2005 with the promise of Prem football.

If we got relegated these people would be off like a shot.

I sit next to family from Southampton, who have been Southampton fans / season ticket holdes for years, their son moved to reading for work, and now they are reading "fans" & season ticket holders...

they buy the merch / pies / beers / shout nice and loud, and will be here for as long as we stay up!

I'd rather our stadium full and sounding full, before i sat with only 6000 other "hardcore fans", beamoaning an empty ground...

Im also a postie, and the amount of 'home tickets' i deliver to people who simply want to watch premiership football, "because its the closest to go to" would probably frighten you, and thats just on my round!

I went to almost 20 games before i saw Reading win, and saw em' relegated in that time... i got labeled a bad omen for the games i went to, so im more of a hardcore fan than you. alright?

All in all a fairly decent weekend... so we only picked up a point.

Newcastle 0 points
Blackburn 0 points
Middlesborough 0 points

And the last 2 of those teams played at home to teams in the bottom six whilst Newcastle played a team in the bottom 3.

So the down sides Tottenham won at home to the team at the bottom of the table and Everton squeeked a win with that bald headed little cnut scoring in the last 2 minutes.

I look at it this way.... before the weekend 5th place was realistically the best we were going to achieve from here on in.

Before Saturday we were 4 points off of 5th ..now we are 3 points!! and 3 of our closest rivals slipped up and got ZERO points.

All in all..not a bad weekend.

If we had serious ambitions of a European spot then we needed to win this game as we will lose at White Hart Lane. The game was there for the taking yesterday as Pompey were very poor, I am disappointed that is all. Our season will now end up being a whimper compared to something that could have been beyond our wildest imaginations.

Some people will just never be satisifed - why don't you whingers go and "support" Chelski or Manure of all you want is glory hunting!!

Expectations adjust as the season has progressed, with the way we played the first 3/4's of it. Then 6th is a realistic aim in my book, I will be dismayed if we now peter out and finish bottom half

last August we would all have taken a 0-0 draw at home to pompie

pompie played 5 in the middle and 1 up front looking to frustrate and try and sneak a goal

This says a lot about the respect teams now give us and we will see this a lot more next season when teams won't expect to get 3 points at the mad stad as they have done this season.

we are 20 points from the relegation places

we are 9 points from a champions league qualification place

17pts from a possible 24 reasonable....and realistic
would leave us with 61 pts.....probably enough for 7th maybe 6th.......

it think we can agree that this would be a success.......
