readingbedding Hunt has no talent, and Harper cannot head the ball and apart from his energy there is nothing to him.

Blah, blah, blah.

What are some of you on?

This is the best time to be a Reading fan since 1871 and still there are people looking for scapegoats.

You've never had it so good.

thats why i haven't read many threads or posted for a few days, cos i am just pissed off that people would criticise our players. theyre doing a lot better than most of you guys could do.

I thought he did well in making sure Hughes' strike hit the post. I knew it was Geller saving our bacon once again.

And? By your position, that means that nobody can discuss anything ever as there is probably someone who can do it better.

Here's a shock for you - football fans want their team to be the best they can and if they see/feel that a player has not done the job for any particular reason they will use an outlet like this to get rid of fustrations.

Yes we are having the greatest season in our history (with the possible exception of last season) but it's human nature to want your team to improve and move forward.

This would be the same whilst sat 8th in the top flight or 14th in the Ryman Premier.

I preferred it in the 70s when Percy Freeman was playing.

If Chelsea and Man Utd get to the FA Cup final Uefa places in the league will go down to 7th. There's a target (although Copps will take each game as it comes).

This will also be the case if Blackburn or Spurs reach the final against Manure and finish in the top 6!

Wasn't surpised by the result Saturday after all it was Portsmouth and we haven't even scored against them at home since 1987!

Completely forgettable game played by two poor teams either trying too hard or just plain knackered.

Hopefully by the time the Spurs game comes around we'll be a bit more like our old selves - certainly should do better than our last visit to White Hart Lane.

I think the reality for me is that this team should finish top half at least having watched us and everyone else in this league

Why? Nothing that I've said there is not true IMO - if you think otherwise please elaborate.

Yes it does, where did I say otherwise. My point is that it is the nature of these boards to discuss performances and people will discuss where they think a performance has gone right or wrong. We didn't play well on Saturday so it's natural that we'll get discussions as to who didn't play well etc....

We will always, always get that and fans will always do that regardless of whether we doing well or doing badly. I prefer to look at any "whinging" after a 0-0 draw at home to Pompey as a plus as it means we are doing very well and perhaps expected more out of the game given how well we've done.

If we we're in say Sheff Utd or Fulham's position we'd probably all have been very happy with that point.

What is wrong in discussing fan opinion on a discussion forum ? Harper has been shite recentl,y so I think discussing this is totally justified.

Huntley & Palmer If we had serious ambitions of a European spot then we needed to win this game as we will lose at White Hart Lane. The game was there for the taking yesterday as Pompey were very poor, I am disappointed that is all. Our season will now end up being a whimper compared to something that could have been beyond our wildest imaginations.

But we don't have serious ambitions of Europe, do we? If what Coppell has said on the OS is anything to go by...

I can't vouch for your wildest imaginations, but this season is already pretty close to mine. And I wouldn't assume we will lose at WHL.

Or were you just fishing. DOH!

I thought Sol Campbell played very well, made good tackles when both Lita and Kitson were about to shoot.

Anyway,

If we drop Hunt, Harper, Marcus, Little and Sidwell they'll be a much better performance against Tottenham.

Disagree, Pompey had a game plan to stifle the game and it worked.

Why do the two observations have to be mutually exclusive?

Pompey are a poor side at the moment - their recent results don't lie.

I'd say that sat in 8th place with 8 games to go, means we don't have much of a choice. Unless Coppell is going to throw games so we don't reach a qualifying placement in the league, which is clearly not the case as he wishes to win every single one. I just think it is a bit narrowminded to say that we don't want European football next season, why on Earth are we bothering to play in this league if not to obtain some sort of success. Unless the mantra of RFC is now to just sit here collecting the obscene amounts of money paid out for TV money and to not strive for the highest position possible. I for one don't believe all this talk of European football harming us or not fitting in with the development plans at this stage for this club.

In terms of initial expectations, they were superceeded by Christmas. They then adjusted as our good form continued.
