Changes to end poor run !

by sonkoissuperman » 19 Mar 2007 11:54

we have had a blip in our results od late admittly against good oppostion but feel it is about time we start to use our large squad. Hunt works but i feel Oster would be a better replacement, Harper is hopeless bring on Bryan! Also i wouldn't mind seeing Halford in there somewhere even if on the bench but give the lad more than a min on the pitch! Hopefully this will be resolved at spurs if not i fear this could be the end of our season !

I myself agree that both Oster and Gunnarsson should come in in place of Hunt and Harper, if to only freshen things up a little.

I can't help but think that since Convey's been ruled out for the rest of the season, Hunt's performances have dropped. Give Oster a start and that will tell Hunt that his place is not guarenteed.

Whenever Gunnarsson's played recently, starting in the cup games, or coming on as a subsitute at Arsenal, he's a had an impact. He forced the own-goal at The Emirates and had two good games against United. Both he and Oster deserve a run and it will do the team good to have a bit of a change here and there.

I for one would love to see Bryan get a run out

For the record this is our first season in the Premiership, please remember this before saying our season could be over if we don't perform against Uefa cup quarter finalists Spurs. I dread to think of the reaction of some on here if we do succum to a difficult second season.

Maybe Oster and Gunnarsson should come in, but they have always been backup players and that's how it's going to stay. Our whole season has been full of good and bad patches and its essentially been the same plaers getting us out of the bad and keeping us in the good, so to drop any of them now makes no sense at all. The players are good enough, they have proved that over the last two seasons, dropping anyone now and claiming bad form would be damaging to the players moral and completely baffling given that we are 8th which is 10 places higher than anyone could have expected at the begining of the season.

a draw against top half opposition
no goals scored at home for the first game in a million years
a solid if dull performance,
still in 8th place, 3 points away from 5th

lets just throw the baby out with the bath water and replace players we know are better, with slightly less good ones in order to freshen up the team?

Score more goals than the other team would do for me.

Saturday was the first time we failed to score since we lost 2-0 to Everton way back on 23rd December.......and we scored 32 goals between then and now!

That was my point. I was being a tad sarcastic, possibly even facetious at the point that this thread exists...

Yes, we are hardly on a poor run, considering we've only actually lost two league games in recent weeks.

But to split that hair, we've lost 3 of the last 4 in all competitions, the other being a draw (and have two very tough games up next).

No I don't agree. SC knows best and this group of players have got us to 8th in the Premiership.
