James Henry signs one month loan deal at Forest

Available for their game against Cheltenham on Saturday. The initial loan is with a view to extending until the end of the season

James Henry joins Forest on loan

10:00, Thursday 22nd March 2007

James Henry has today joined Nottingham Forest on loan.

The promising 17-year-old winger has made a big impression for the
reserves at late, and was watched in last night's 1-1 draw at home
to Fulham by Forest boss Colin Calderwood.

He has put pen to paper on a one-month loan deal at the City Ground,
which means he is available for Forest's crucial promotion run-in,
starting with their home game with Cheltenham Town on Saturday. The
initial loan is with a view to extending until the end of the
season.

Straight after Saturday's game, Henry will then join up with the
England U18 camp for the game with Holland next Tuesday evening at
Yeovil Town's Huish Park Stadium.

Henry admitted he was looking forward to the loan at Forest. He
said, "It's a great opportunity for me to gain some experience of
first team football.

"I first heard about Forest's interest about a month ago, but I had
a niggling injury on my ankle so it couldn't happen then. But I
found out on Wednesday that I'd be leaving after the reserve game
with Fulham so it was a sudden move really.

"Forest are a massive club and they're only four points behind
Bristol City for an automatic promotion space, so they are going to
be really competitive games in front of big crowds - I'm really
looking forward to that.

"Hopefully I can go and have an influence on their season by playing
well for them.

"It's a month loan with a view to perhaps extending until the end of
the season. It's going to be totally different for me being involved
in games which mean a huge deal to the fans and club.

"Academy and reserve games are important for development, but
there's nothing like the first team. There are huge things at stake
for Forest and I'll be giving everything to their cause."

Henry could be Sidwells long-term replacement. Hopefully he goes to Forest and sets the place alight!

Could our midfield next season look like this?

Little Harper Henry Convey

OK, I know he's playing as a winger. But he could be shifted into the centre. If thats what you mean when you say clueless.

Or do you have some info that Sidders is gonna put pen to paper?

Sorry but an 18-year-old winger will not be playing in the centre mid position for Reading next season. I'd rather Harper goes than Sidwell.

Not clueless, maybe just differing in opinion.

And anyway, I didn't boo Seol but I do think that fans have the right to boo if they are not happy with a performance! All those that did boo had every right to boo.

Spacey, I think you are living in a sterile world.

It wouldn't be the first time an 18 year old has played in the middle of the park for a premier league football team.

If he is good enough, then he is old enough.

To be honest, I don't know if he is good enough or not because I haven't really seen the lad play. But at least we can watch his performances or at least hear about his performances for forest playing at a reasonable level.

Its not really the "18-year-old" bit which would stop him playing centre midfield next season more the "winger" bit.

You have a good point. That is for sure.

Maybe I should bail out at this point because I don't know enough about the lad. Therefore, you could describe me as being clueless.

Great move for him and hopefully he'll emulate Pearce's achievements at Northampton.

So your first point was completely unjustifiable.

Real good move for all parties. He joins a good side with high expectation, and with the pressure of a promotion race on.

Credit to Hammond and Dolan, the Academy is producing quality talent and I genuinally believe we are maybe 1-2 years away before we soon have a situation at Middlesborough where 5-10 kids we'll be competiting with the 1st team squad for places, which can only be a good thing.

Henry has great skill and put's great balls into the box. It's the physical element that's always questionable with youth team players. The first team players stand out a mile in reserve games i.e Bikey sheperding Fulham's right winger in the second half or Zat Knight marking any of the reading youth.
