Leicester - one year on

by Jerry St Clair » 24 Mar 2007 19:36

Can't believe it's been a year. But what a day!

Train up from St Pancras. A few drinks beforehand in a pub near the ground - it really was a Hob Nob orgy in there. Utter carnage when Doyle equalised. Leicester fans congratulating us outside the ground. Walking back to the station, singing on the platform. Cleaning the buffet car out of champagne before it had even left Leicester. Non-stop singing all the way round the Tube. Back to the Ding and into the Blagrave for a few cheeky ones before bedtime.

A day that will live forever with anyone who was there.

Up there with the day out at Brentford. Loved every minute of that day. Meeting the team afterwards and being sprayed with Champagne by Marcus Hahnemann. One year on, and it's gone so quick. Looking at how long we still have of this season, It really amazes me as to how good we were in that division. There'll never be a team as good as we were in that division for a very very long time.

Up there with Brentford, and quite similar in some ways- promotion confirmed with a 1-1 away draw with an equaliser scored near the end by our second top scorer of the season.

Leicester was more relaxed elation, if there's such a thing, as the actual game at Griffin Park was utter torture. Agree that it seems much less than a year...

Wow a year already, an amazing day for sure, always knew the goal was going to come, and no pressure as just meant was another week to wait otherwise.

Great pub before, feeling of misbelief that it had finally happened after the game, little old Reading in The Prem!!

And THAT recording as already mentioned, class Mr H&P and down in RFC history.

Can I add, NEVER trust H&P on a day out ALOL

I remember getting on the M1 after a couple more celebration beers (the other half was driving) only to think, sod it, turn back and book in to a hotel.

The Leicester fans were brilliant and, even though most of the Reading fans had gone, they were all quite happy to celebrate with us.

Was sat at Wembley yesterday and it hit me that it was a year ago. Couldn't believe it, seems like yesterday.

Fantastic day.

Going up from st pancras was subdued , no-one knew what was going to happen, but that was the most amazing day. The flags the scarfs the jumping with ecstasy after the game. Just all of it was so amazing.
Thank you Reading FC

was the most emotional day of my life so far, bigger than brentford, cardiff and even wembley.
i was living in south leicester at the time and it was such a hyped up game for me, gaining promotion against the club most of my then colleagues supported. i was so nervous all morning and i had a few mates drive up to stay for the weekend.
we were the first in the ground n we all just sat there in silence watching the warm up.
90 minutes later i had no voice and must of lost half my body weight from jumping so much, ive never felt a stand shake so much as wen they announced the score at leeds :D
spent all day after recovering from a viscous hang over constantly watching sky sports and reading every paper i brought in the hope it would sink in..it still hasnt properly

What was better. The realistion when it was announced or doyle scoring to give us hope?

For me Doyle scoring was amazing , that was when we were promoted , we all knew from there on in we had done it. The stadium shook literally then, that is one memeory i will never lose!

Wow, cant beleive it was a year. This time last year many of us were just settling in to a quiet pint in the Counting House (top away pub) SKB gave me a hug and some tissues, and the rest they say, is history

Really can't believe it's been a year...

Scares me how fcuking fast time actually flies... only feels like a few months ago.

And that is extremely true... It didn't seem that quick when it happened, but now I look at the season and where we are into it, it's unbelievable to think we were promoted this far into the season.

So fcuking proud to be a Royal.
