Selling a player is an option at any time and we're a rare club in that we have not been a 'selling' club for decades so people forget that for most clubs it's about finding a player and then looking to sell him asap.

I think to say the choice is either Lita signs a new deal or we sell him ignores what is probably the second best option (first best being he signs !). Lita hasn't done enough yet to be worth megabucks and you'd think the market for him would be Everton (if Johnson leaves) or Newcastle (if Owen struggles to get fit) with maybe Boro (if Viduka goes). Would he fetch £5 million ? I'm not so sure....

Chaney
Behindu He's in the U21 set up - most of the squad are full Internationals.

He has a way to go before he's one of our 'top' stars.

If he demands stupid money then the club will do as they have done with Sids, and I hope Lita adopts the same attitude that Sids has on the pitch.

and let him go for nothing the same as sid?

But we have had Sidders on a lower wage this season , so it is swings and roundabouts.

For me I would like to keep a happy squad, even with the Sidwell situation Coppell seems to ahve achieved this, so I think the club is managing it all very well overall.

You'd hope not , if anything Kitson should be encouraged to speak his mond a bit more. At least he has one....

We've only not sold because we've not had any players other sides have been interested in

Who was the last player we knowling turned down a decent offer for?

The last time we had in demand players we sold the lot

We turned down £5 million for Doyle from Villa in January.

Apparently, Boro are interested in Nicky Shorey.

Surely if Lita can score the goals to keep us up another season then that is £30m plus in the bank. No point in selling him for £5million if we can't sign a replacement that is proven to score at this level and that will cost more then £5m. If he won't sign, then let him see out his contract and go with our blessing that he has helped to create the situation that we are in

Even if Lita let his contract run down, he'd still be under 24 so he wouldn't go for free. Still need to nail him down to a new one but I can't see him signing more than a 1 year extention. This would take him to 24 and allow him to walk at the end and bag a decent signing on fee somewhere else. Unfortunately, it's how a football agent's mind works.

Great new that Kits has further committed himself to the club. Now, if only he can stay fit.

Kitson on Sky Sports News:

"In my own personal point of view if I played for England, yeah, I'd score a lot of goals certainly."

 Great news, I love the man.

He didn't say that you cheeky boy!

Are you trying to add further fuel to Kitsons growing reputation of quality cockiness.

If he was asked the right question, that is probably the answer he would give though.

So we are the only club in the league who hasn;t had players that other clubs would be interested in then ?
Of course there will have been times when our players were enquired after - and we said no - but the press don't report every phone call that is made !

The Boro story is ancient news (it was reported that Southgate mentioned to Coppell that he'd be keen on Shorey and Sidwell). That's a long way from them buying him, or us being interested in selling him.

We seem exceptionally well set at the moment in terms of having just about every player signed on good length deals.

We are in a much stronger position as a club these days that it takes a different calibre of club to prize our star assets away.

During the 90's it was clubs like Wolves, QPR, Leicester who were able to put an attractive package together to relieve us of one of our star team members or staff.

Since the millenium clubs like Wolves, QPR & Leicester would have no chance of being able to cherry pick our best players. Now there is only a select band of clubs more attractive than us that consist of Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Man Utd, Villa, Newcastle, Spurs, Everton & Perhaps Middlesbrough who have any chance of realistically taking any of our players.

So the demand has shifted up the league structure. I am sure Wolves, Derby, Leicester, QPR, Forest etc. would love to have any player in our team but these days they have no chance. In fact the situation has reversed with Wolves as we are now cherry picking their best players.

Its not that the demand for our players isn't there. Its just that there are only a very few clubs who can realistically attain our players and since those clubs are at the top end of the football ladder, our players would have to be seriously good to be demanded.

Clubs lower down the ladder no longer can take our players. This is all great because it just puts a much higher value on all our players now. We now have a high value squad. Even if it didn't cost much to assemble.
