Derbyshire Royal ...bearing in mind that generally british clubs dont enter until round 3.

The first round is a knock out round

then its the group stage

5 teams per group you play each team once, 2 games at home and 2 games away

maybe you mean the 3rd qualifying round?
He is talking about the intertoto cup.

Huntley & Palmer LOL @ us finishing higher than 9th
Look at the fixtures. With four games to go, we're right in the mix. A lot depends on the Bolton game. If we pull off a win there, they have to go to Chelsea next and we could be ahead of them before the month is over. We have an easier time of it than Portsmouth, who have not been very compelling of late. Eighth is very possible, seventh is a stretch but a win next week and suddenly it looks very, very doable. Of course, no doubt you and Mags will sneer at the prospect of Reading winning at the Reebok. You're entitled to your cynicism. I ceased to be cynical about Reading's achievements years ago.

We won't be in the Inter Toto because we didn't apply for it.

We have a fair run in and are quite capable of beating Bolton, I think we'll finish around 8th or 9th. Just missing out. We're tiring badly and the injuries are taking their toll. We Have done well, and I think Europe would probably be an overachievement whereas 8th/9th would be a fair reflection of our season.

Should we make it into Europe I see no reason why we couldn't treat it the same way as the league cup and give our fringe players experience and minutes in it. We arn't in a position to really compete in Europe/league cup/FA cup as well as the premiership. But we can at least make some money out of it and gain some experience for the likes of Long, Halford, Bikey and co.

Huntley & Palmer Nope, I knew we would finish higher than that. We won't finish top nine though

With a 6 point cushion from 10th place and not the hradest of run ins you must be a huge pessimist to think we won;t finish at least 9th...

We've picked up 2 points on Spurs and looks like (0-0 currently) we may do the same of Everton.

As it stands looks like Everton and Bolton should wrap up 5th and 6th, but the seventh spot is wide open.

It looks like 1 from 3

Spurs are in pole position with the game in hand. Portsmouth have a very hard last 4 games so have the least chance. As said in previous posts if and it is a big if, we could win at Bolton we would really have a great shout for it to go down to the last game if we produce our normal good home form in the 2 games after Bolton.

Huntley & Palmer Give me one good reason why not, and I'm afraid the extra games theory is bollocks.

Is it?

Huntley & Palmer Yes.

Chelsea have beaten Blackburn today. Next weekend is key IMO we really need to get at least a point from Bolton and have Arsenal beat Spurs, Pompey have a couple of big 4 teams still to come to Fratton park.

Woodcote Royal This club doesn't want or need European football next season.

Why not ask Steve Coppell at the next fans forum?

At least he's gets paid to answer stupid questions.

Ian Royal We won't be in the Inter Toto because we didn't apply for it.

Why was that, I wonder

Looks like another daft question for SC here...................and he does seem to enjoy them, doesn't he :?

Huntley & Palmer Exactly, it is a priviledge to represent your nation at a European level.

What? :? No club represents their country in European club football. If we qualify we will be representing Reading.

I would love to see us in Europe next season, just a shame the UEFA cup these days is a pile of sh1t.

All these people who don't want europe I just don't understand. Ok if you Mr C I can see why it might be an extra distraction he could do without but a fan ???? All these who don't want europe obviously don't follow Reading away. Personally I can't think of anything better than Bratislava or Sparta Prague away on a Thursday night. Bring it on !

Is there a chance we can into Europe by the fair league of having the least bookings and red cards?

Coppell has made it clear we are not thinking about European football, not every season can be as spectacular as last, and the only reason some fans are saying we are good enough for europe and we should try for it is so that Mr.Steven.Sidwell signs a new contract

We've done this to death but my reasons, as a fan, are pretty similar to the "extra distraction we can do without" scenario. All this eagerness for Europe is taking a very short term view in my opinion. I'd be interested to know what the split between the younger and older fans is on this issue. I'd be suprised if most who've been waiting for some time for this aren't prepared to wait just a little longer.

Doesn;t the fair table give points for fouls committed and cards received ? Given that no foul was committed and no card received I'm not sure the Fair Play league will be impacted...

and also for such pointless things as behaviour of officials etc.

Fair Play thing will be hit by that.

FWIW, Spurs then Villa are apparently top of that league.
