Jerry St Clair What's a 20-something doing posting spurious opinions on an internet message board? You should be out enjoying life whilst you're still young enough to appreciate it. I don't think any of us in this particular glasshouse can afford to be chucking stones around.

Fair play Jerry. My response to RR in this instance was perhaps spurious. Maybe I was fighting spuriousness with spuriousness, coming down to RR's level. Fair play to him for not necessarily taking the bait in this instance because what I was saying was verging on being rather personal.

Royal Rother Thanks Jerry, nice to see the numbers who are prepared to show they can think for themselves as well as support are growing.

Just because people don't necessarily agree with you, RR, it does not mean that they are incapable of thinking for themselves. I would expect a more sophisticated outlook from someone of your years, sir.

The thing with RR is that I genuinely rate him as one of the very best contributors on The Team and General Football forums.

It is precisely because I enjoy his opinions - for I am able to appreciate that what other folk have to say may be at polarities with my own personal mindset without thinking that somehow makes them unsophisticated, emotionally unintelligent heathens and resorting to insults accordingly - that I pay him such special attention. 8)

Lita is a Premiership player, if he improves and learns from his mistakes he will remain one.

I think we have probably the best (in regards to potential) attacking options outside the top 6 in the Prem.

This, of course includes Lita.

3 into 2 don't go and certainly 4 into 2 don't go either, but compare our options to our peers like City, Charlton and even Everton etc...

A good pre-season and Lita will mature and will be flying - of that I have no doubt.

Other people may have other ideas about him, but that's down to them.

It amazes me constantly how people can keep on criticising our TOP SCORER!

Why thank you; the feeling is entirely mutual. The thing is I like my posts to stimulate debate - who doesn't - and I have learned over the last couple of years that adding a little bit of condescension, amongst the articulate good sense, almost guarantees an interesting debate. Or a Spacey tirade which is usually good value as well.

I am really not in least bit arrogant or conceited - I just enjoy a free exchange of views that are laced with a touch of spice.

One of these days I'll meet up with you FS and buy you a pint so you can see for yourself!

Yes because constructive criticism is such a horrible thing.

Honestly Spacey, do you think Lita is the finished article? Can he not improve aspects of his game further?

Yes, he could improve, same as pretty much any other footballer. But to slag him off and want him out of the team when he is one of two to score 10 or more goals this season is pretty much short-sighted.

No player is bigger than the club.

Certainly not, but if nobody is scoring goals, why do you want to weaken the team by not including somebody who can score goals?

Well, he's suspended anyway. Plus are you saying that Doyle and Kitson can't score goals?

No, I'm not saying that. People like RR want him out even if Doyle and Kitson can't play for one reason or the other. That's what I am a bit irritated about.

No, RR wants him to improve.

For the most part, Lita needs to.

I've never ever seen him say that since he came back in to the team. He wants improvement, as we all do, not to throw him on the scrap heap.

Mmmmm, improvement. Sure, but I'm sure that Lita is far much better than RR labelling him a Conference player.

If he was really a Conference player, would he have scored 50 league goals so far in his career at levels much higher than Conference? It's at times like these that I get the impression that RR wants shot of him.

Now seems a reasonable time to quote what I actually said....
Royal Rother As I have said many times before he is an excellent goalscorer with an amazing leap, but give him time to think and he is little better than a Conference player.

That could be said about so many players, though.

Goalscoring is an instinctive thing, not something that you have to think about, and many other players do it naturally and not well when they do have time.
