Stand Up for Steve Coppell!!!

by Lieutenant Pigeon » 27 Apr 2007 16:25

I'd normally avoid the 'chant threads' like the plague - let alone start one - but as Monday night is our last televised home game of the season - I reckon it would be a fitting - and very public tribute to the great man if EVERYONE stood up and chanted this at the start of the second half (need the E stand to get it going of course!!!! )

Great idea, but won't happen.

Too many people would rather sit on their hands and watch the match..

Of all the dross that is posted on here - including made up songs which are quite often embarrasing and cringeworthy - this is a great idea - and would be fab if it can get kicked off!

At the start of the second half?
How about for large parts of the game, first half and all?

Why don't you encourage them to participate?

"Can you hear the West Stand sing?"

might hopefully get a response of

"We're the West side, We're the West side, We're the west side of the ground"

Oh and then actually give them a chance to sing and join in before singing over them with a completely different chant

Not at the Madejski, for the last year or so it's been pretty common to see the West Stand joining in

Which chant would you like us to join in with??

The one started by the Northern part of the East stand?

Or the one that starts 30 seconds later by the Southern part of the East stand?

Or how about the one that the drummer then decides to start 30 seconds after that, which has a beat totally different to the other 2??

Just wondering...............

It would be a great idea if our fans could maintain any sort of rhythm, instead of getting continually faster so that it peters out after about 10 seconds.

We can do it far better away, like last season at Portman Road, when we kept up a great noise (Stevie Coppell's barmy army IIRC) for absolutely AGES.

Just seems the fans at home can't keep their timing.

Not sure - it might just work, particularly if the team are putting on another good display.
