MOTM v NEWCASTLE

by higher » 30 Apr 2007 22:13

You decide:

For me...
USA very good..Solid all night, important stop from Ameoba
DLC... Composed did all asked of him.
Doobs...See DLC
Ingi..Diamond (hes after Murts armband)
Shorey...Venables was there.Must have upped his claim for England shirt.
Oyster...Poor.Can see him leaving in summer.
Seol...Lost possession too much.Wish he would get that bit more stuck in.
Gunnar...Ok ish seen him do better.Great utility player though.
Hunty...Wayward quite oftem but made up for it by sheer endeavour.
Doyle..Looking sharper by the game.
Kits...Not his best ever but hey Kits can win a game and he did it tonight.

Wiley..Not brilliant...nailed on first half pen with Tightarse elbowing Doyle of f the ball.A few other dodgy moments.
Owen...Yeah he was good at 18/19 but will continue to rest on laurals of yesteryear.
Shorey gets my nod,Ingi a close second, Marcus on the podium.

DLC for me.

I thought Owen looked excellent for his first game back after a year out. He might not have been that involved but the striker's instinct for making the run at the right time was almost spot on. He got caught a few times (rightly and wrongly by the looks of it) but was very very close to being onside each and every time.

I was very pleasantly surprised how well he did.

Doobs was immense today. Didn't give Owen a sniff and when Ameobi came on he was all over him.

Doobs for me too, looking better with every game.

As has been said elsewhere the back 5 worked extremely well as a unit tonight.

Agree. Totally dominant. Imagine a centre back pairing of Doobs and Sonks. No forward would have a chance to head the ball!

DeLa for me - had Owen in his pocket, made some great tackles and looked really good going forward.

Shozza was immense last night, and in front of Vebebals as well. You never know, he might just get that England call up some time next season!

SKY got it right for once................Shorey.

PS. Agree that DLC had a very good game, too. He has quietly made a great comeback following his mare earlier in the season when he was subbed at half time.

Vena won't have noticed him. He was only there to watch some 5.2 scouser.
