Murty must have been very close if Finnan is the best they could find for a right back.

Can't argue with that team at all.

Apart from the fact that Finnan has been the best RB all season by some distance.

Only Gary Neville is on the same level in terms of quality and consistancy as Finnan.

Finnan deserves his place as Neville has missed about 4 months of the season.

Once again Four Four Two prove that they are the only football magazine around worth buying.

So, two players not from the big 4 made it: Shorey and Foster.

Foster does not make sense to me. He played in 29 games for the worst team in the Premiership. His average saves per game were 5.8. Hahnemann's are 6.6.

This being said, I don't think Hahnemann deserves it. Instead, I'd give the award to Tim Howard. 6.0 saves per game, and allowing fewer goals than any non big 4 team. I think that's pretty decent.

There is a case for David James as well, but to me, those are the two to beat.

Foster? I don't think I'd have him in my top 5.

No idea what 'saves per game' means, why do we have so many rubbish and spurious 'statistics' in the game ?

I'd agree that David James would be a candidate for the keeper of the season, but Foster has been excellent behind a clueless defence.

Assuming we can use the old fashioned method of judging players (ie watching them !) rather than think we all like in a computer game i think Foster is a good nomination and nice to see a magazine not doing what the PFA awards did and just handing out votes en bloc to on eteam irrespective of players have actually played...

Good to see Shorey in there, btw anyone see Andy Gray/Richard Keys & Jamie Redknapp's team of the year ?
Stunned to see their choice of left back... Lescott... he's not even an actual left back or full back at all, just filled in this year, remarkable decision.

Don't make Saturday's result even harder to take

It would have to be a toos up between James and Foster I think ,they've been the two outstanding keepers. Howard has been pretty safe too, except against L'pool.

Well done Shorey!

But Foster's actually a Man Utd player making Shorey the only player in the squad who's not in the big four! :p

Lescott has still had a very good season though. Not sure he'd get in my side above Shorey though.

And what competition is there in the same marketplace? Match and Shoot are for younger and older kids respectively while When Saturday Comes is a much more of things from a 'fans' view with comedy thrown in.

Are there any others?
