Celtic are the best team in Scotland but would struggle to match our performance in this season's EPL.................... a tinpot football nation, end of.

And, I agree that his remarks make him someone we can do without.

Doyler I wouldn't have, playing for Reading should be every Reading supporter's dream, good money and you get to go to the likes of Old Trafford, Anfield and the Emirates Stadium, whereas Scott will have to rely on the draw on the champions league. Plus, I wouldn't be keen on living in Glasgow, terrible weather and it is extremely rough in parts.

And that's your choice. A move to Celtic would all but guarantee winning many trophies over your career and European football at the highest level every season. Add to that the financial rewards and even as a Reading fan, as a professional footballer it would be a foolish move to make.

Footballers want to win things, playing for Celtic you definitely will, playing for Reading you might.
Trophies in a one-sided league though, thre's no competitiveness. Celtic will never be good enough to win the Champions League, but then I suppose, we haven't got much chance of that either.

And you honestly think that matters?

Scenario A: Play for Celtic for 10 years - Win 5 or more League medals, 5 or so SFA Cups, a few League Cups. 10 years of CL football getting to the knockout stages most years, maybe getting to the QF or SF once. Other years fall in to the UEFA, make a final maybe win it. Earn £50k a week doing it.

Scenario B: Play for Reading for 10 years - Play in the Premier League - as likely to finish 5th as you are to be relegated - virtually no chance of winning the League. Slim chance of winning the FA Cup, might win the League Cup.
Play in the UEFA Cup twice. Get through the group stages, lose to one of the CL clubs in the first knock-out stage. Earn £30k a week doing it.

This is obviously a simplistic version of what might happen

As much as love this club it's seriously a no brainer and his thought process would be matched by virtually every football player on the planet.

Surely footballers want to win things at the right club. They wouldn't want to help a club that they detest win things. I mean, can you imagine the likes of Gary Neville wanting to go to Liverpool to help them win things?

If it was the only option available to him where winning medals was likely, he probably would. But as he's at a club where he'll win things anyway it's a very strange example.

If you think the SPL is one sided, what the hell do you think our league is?

Maybe a better example would be Ledley King having come through the Spurs youth system, would he go to Arsenal given the chance?

think its encouraging that we matched celtic's offer, and it got as far as it being up to the player to decide

means that we bid around £4.4 million for him,and the chairman is backing coppell with hard cash to replace sidwell ?

brendywendy one of the greatest thrills and bonus' this season is to have been able to ram words and predictions like this down the throats of the idiots that utter them
i shall look forward to doing that all next season too!

Hmmm.. I thought the same whilst watching southampton cry on the telly the other night.

Let's hear it for Sam Sodje

I would say so yes, depending on where Spurs are in comparison to Arsenal. Didn't seem to effect ex-Spurs trainee Sol Campbell's career.

Yorkshire Royal If you were to remove you RTG's you may see that he has a point. Look at Wigan and West Ham this year. Look at Ipswich in the past. The difficult second season will be with us, and we may well end up in a relegation dogfight.

Both Wigan & West Ham survived and will probably do OK next season. Statistically the so called second season syndrome doesn't even exist!

Who wants an unknown Scot anyway? Let him go to Celtic, 'enjoy' competing in a two horse race and still remain unknown outside Scotland!

To be fair I'm more annoyed by the lippy Swindon C*NTER who chips in with his bit on this site.

Really, what part? All seems fair enough to me:

"If I had chosen Reading I would probably be fighting a relegation battle next season and then maybe disappearing into the Championship.

"In two years' time people would have been saying, 'Remember that lad Scott Brown - whatever happened to him?'"

So what is wrong with that? There is a good chance we will be fighting a relegation battle next year, sadly it is still more likely than finishing 8th again (same can be said for at least 10 sides in the Prem) and if we are and lose it we will disappear to the Championship.

He's not said it will happen just that the possibilty of it happening was one of the reasons he chose not to sign for us.

Why should we care what he says? Swindon are a mickey mouse club 2 leagues below us that are lucky to still exist. They can only dream of achieving what we have, and I think they never will.

In what way? I'm intrigued on people's take on why his comments are either a load of bollocks or some sort of insult.
