Royal Hob Nob all I can say to this guy is Gretna away or Manchester United away?

60,000 at Celtic Park or 24,000 at the Madjeski?

It won't be 24,000 for much longer. And anyway, why are attendances important here?

They're not - my point was just a counter to the quoted post.

Surely the better example would be Gretna away or Wigan away.

or Rangers away or Manchester United away?

I hope in 2 years time his career has gone down the pan as a big time charlie w@nker who hit the bottle and gambling, thinking he was great with his 2 titles from a tin pot league. Anyway in the pics he looks like a spaced out drugie, and we don't want any of them leading other squad members astray.

Perhaps he did it deliberately to get publicity - as a "say something some people will find controversial and stir people up to get my name bandied about because no publicity is bad publicity" sort of thing... which would make him a bit like a footballing Oliv*r H*lt really.

I find it quite amusing though - was he intended to be a Sidwell replacement? If so, they got it spot on - faced with the choice of signing for us or a bigger club that pretty much guarantees CL football and pays almost twice as much, he did exactly what Sidders did! (except Sidders didn't make ill-advised comments - oh, apart from the one about having his wife and kid to consider which some thought ill advised...)

Overall, don't really care about his comments or about him but am very glad that with a seeming "open mouth before engaging brain" attitude like his, he ended up not coming to us - could have done more harm than good.

A framed quotation hangs above the home dressing-room door. It reads: “When you lose to teams like Reading, you know you have a problem – Martin Jol, the Tottenham Hotspur managerâ€

For heaven's sake people, listen to yourselves. Have any of you considered that this fellow probably only came out with these comments as a result of some journo asking him directly to explain why he didn't want to talk to Reading.

And as for 'wanting to stir up some controversy', can you honestly believe that anyone (other than Reading fans) is even vaguely interested in this stuff still - it is yesterday's fish'n'chip wrapper for most people by now.

Are they? News to me.

Yes they get big crowds and have a large following and they won a European trophy a while back.

But a giant of world football?

from my lowly position as a reading FC fan
id say that it pretty much makes them exactly what i said

but if you wish to put them in the 2nd division of international giantness thats ok
would still make them a better prospect than we are

I never said they weren't, and they certainly aren't from the view point of a Scotsman.
