The club have taken the option to extend his contrat by a year, which shows great loyalty in the player.

Does anyone know much about him though? I've not had the chance to see him play, but it looks as though the club rate him quite highly.

He's a big bloke !

Doubt the club know too much more than us, given his injury problems but you'd guess he's shown a good attitude. Plus the club do have a track record of looking after players with injury problems who are out of contract (Newman, Mate, Steve Brown...)

He rejected a loan to Cork City in February, the City players mentioned that he was quite arrogant and wasn't really up to standard in training either.

I hope its on a pay-as-you-play basis. Can't see a lot of point otherwise given the depth we have in this position. Then again, I've not really seen a lot of him...he might be the next Bobby Moore? Is he?

But he needs to be given the chance of a full season free of injuries to prove it or not.

All part of "the Reading way" - treat the players honestly and decently, and not like commodities to be cast aside. We'll never be able to compete with some other clubs on wages, so at least we can compete in the way we treat our players and look after them.

Same could have been said for Shane Long when we signed him.

Not quite the same.

There's a lot of people ahead of Brown in the pecking order, i'd like to see him play a bit more but seems a waste of time for him and us.

it wouldnt be a waste of time if over time he managed to get into the team, or if he managed to attract interest from other clubs
not saying either will happen though

He did have a 3/4 match loan spell at Bournemouth before he got injured but they played him as an emergency striker for a couple of games.
I don't think the guy has a chance of ousting the other CB's for a place so this really is a waste of time all round

If out with a broken ankle, how? :?

Oh and I seem to remember him as a decent big centre back. Nice little cover, may boot the ball into the crowd one or two times...

I am almost certain it was this guy. He trained with us for a couple of day's aswell.

It was part of the Alan Bennett transfer.

..and where and how did he acquire his fracture?

So on the basis of a performance against didcot( in which a reading fan actually played the season before) he is judged to be a "decent centre back", was that a pisstake?

I don't understand wat your contribution was athletico. Were you asking a genuine question about his injury? or were you suggesting as he was getting some playing time in league one or in the reserves that would make him decent in the premiership?
