Our worst Striker of recent times.

by Ian Royal » 10 Jun 2007 21:06

Right I'm bored an I thought I'd join the poll trend.

So who exactly was our worst striker (must have played at least a few first team games to count) of recent years. I'll add any good suggestions if I miss them.

Inspired by the cureton thread on the other board about who bad Goater/Forster/Asaba et al were.

Brayson.

Some of those on that list weren't THAT bad.

Katie Marsden Brayson.

Brayson was a pile for us..

..but he has gone on to score shed loads in the Conference......

...and just a couple of weeks ago made his debut (and scored) for the England C Team

He may have played for the National Game XI but he didn't score. Same old story really.

48 games as a striker, one goal. How can anybody else have got a vote?

How anyone can vote for Keith Scott after THAT goal against Bradford is beyond me.

maybe I stand corrected, but

could've sworn I saw him on the scoresheet in the Non League Paper a few weeks ago

Out of contract with Northwich, York City are currently after his prowess.....apparently

(Brayson that is)

With his utterly intact barn door, and a banjo, unsullied by a cow's arse, the answer is Paul Brayson.

Bit unfair the Goat being in that list IMO. He scored something like 16 goals in 30-odd games for us at a time when the team wasn't playing at all well. Also his link-up play was excellent. He was then treated very shabbily by the club over the terms of his contract, a shame as he is a true gentleman - a rarity in football these days.

I would add McIntyre to that list. He never looked being remotely worth the 420k we (and by we I mean Burns) paid for him. True, he ended up being a not bad left winger but he was signed as a goalscorer and didn't deliver.

Rougier was pretty bad to be concidered a striker. IIRC he only got the 1!

Daniella

The "worst" player debate is a ridiculous one unless you add attributes like worst player to play more than 20 times a season, etc

Clearly its some youth player who never played for the first team and dissapered into nowhere. All the above were good enough to play first team football at some point.

Williams was cool. Why is the poo guy even on this list?

The two against PNE at home to make it 2-2 being just one example of his greatness when on form.

He did fall a lot though.

'I'm not the kind of striker who scores goals'

Jim McIntyre is our worst ever striker by miles. Ended up shoved on the wing, and not exactly busting a gut for us in the play-off final.
