Scrappy Rougier was pretty bad to be concidered a striker. IIRC he only got the 1!
The weird thing is, didn't he score something like 30 goals for port vale the previous season to which we signed him?

Overall I think Steve Moran must run some of the above close...

Checking on that, here's his stats: http://www.soccerbase.com/players_detai ... yerid=9268

Looks like he wasn't much of a goalscorer in his career, so I wonder why you thought he had scored 30 goals prior to coming here.

Colin Gordon
Had the unenviable job of trying to take over from that man Trevor (god) Senior when he left the first time.
He was what the word 'Donkey' was originally invented for

I think he'd have been amazing with a decent manager if he'd managed to get a goal in his first few appearances. Once he went a while without scoring he just got worse and worse and lost all the promise he'd shown.

Quite possibly, but his attitude and his weight problems didn't exactly help.

Yes, I'm saying that those things may well have coem from not getting onto the score sheet quickly enough.

Didn't he also have a close relative die not long after he joined us? I seem to remember him having to go to the states for a funeral.

Ah, yes, I think his wife miscarried his baby. Or the baby died. Or something like that.

no need to appologise, yes many times.

Please accept my apology for the lack of a  , or a whoosh, or for lacking an ability to demonstrate sarcasm in an ABC 123 way.

Franchise, you must remember a tribute/spoof song that they used to play in his honour, pre-match at Elm Park, just what was it now?

Personally, I don't like negative posts about players past and present, but you may just understand my way of thinking when you remember the answer to the above question.

OK Franchise (surprised that you forgot this one but)....times up

it was:

(to the tune of Elkie Brookes...Pearls a Singer) Earles a Winger

Next time that you tune into Radio 2 and hear that song, just remember Pat Earles, and the games that you probably never ever saw him play in.

best regards ...... etc

He had one and a half good games. Don't go over the top.

I think you need to do some research. I apologise for being a sad statto, but of his 250+ games, I saw in excess of 150 of them, and you're right they did play the Elkie Brookes song but they couldn't play Pearl's a Striker because she didn't make one called that. He did play at times on the right, but mainly as a striker.

The song in question was Earl's a Winger by Richard Digance.

Not about Pat Earles (note the spelling difference) but it was a 'comedy' version of Pearl's a Singer and was about a footballer ....

just glad I brought back fond memories............ "Earles A Winger" , and that was the one I was on about.

Pat actually played 276 games for the Hoops, plus 8 sub appearances.......he scored 85 goals (I saw lots of them)

and all aIong, I have been on a wind-up Franchise.

Best regards (take them or leave them)
