Predictions of league positions next year!

I think he means if we don't bring in top quality players, like the other teams, then the side we had last year (minus Sid) just won't "cut the mustard" and I tend to agree. However, it's early days and a couple of good signings will change some people's minds.

But is anyone predicting the league based on the strength of teams NOW or the expected strengths when the season starts ?
Doing it on current strength is pointless, whilst doing it on expected strength is very difficult !
Predicting us to be relegated based on the current signing situation seems weird....

Yeah, but you can always trust Steve Bruce to oxf*rd it up and get his team to play like they've never met before. He's the sort of manager who spends millions on a world class striker and then buys his whole defence for a fiver from Kidderminster Harriers.

Birmingham won't get relegated, I think they'll do best out of the promoted teams, but they won't pull up any trees either.

The challenge for the club is to find inferiority in our situation. Not easy when you finish 8th in England, eh!!!

Just don't do the West Ham, Wigan, Ipswich, etc. Don't think you're suddenly too big for your boots. A good (albeit close to the wire) example is Portsmouth. Now an established top flight club... they stayed up, then bucked the trend with a cash injection, then stayed up by the skin of their teeth, now their manager (last season) took the Reading stance of playing everything down. Lets take a leaf out of their book (despite who they actually are, as a club) and lay low. Play the cautious, somewhat expensive, but safety line, and drive on. Except with some actual business nous rather than the Mandaric/Gaydamak phenomenon that seems to shed an influx of white light/no light which I hope goes nowhere near RFC.

We can learn a bit from their earlier years while maintaining the stability that this club is renowned for.... lets take that and develop it with our actual potential. That which is far more than the likes of Portsmouth et al and one that truly represents more than just business growth.

i dont think massive foreign investment guarantees business success anywhere, especially not in the premiere league
there is a long list full of examples of teams, managers, and chairmen who spent big and got nowhere.

there is a very short list of teams who spent nowt and prospered and it currently reads......

As for wild cards yes Behindu, i think Keane is really going to come good at Sunderland, Everton can do better, especially if Johnson stays fit, which I would like to see, Liverpool just dont seem to have the morale at the club at the moment, which is why i take them out of the top 4.

As for Reading, well I can see a bad start to the season, some of the players will need to further improve, and I am not sure that catching up is all that easy in the Prem, unless we get Tevez that is.

I think Reading will find it a lot tougher next year. No real signings as yet - and with Sidwell and Halford gone - lacking a bit of strength in depth at the moment.

unless reading can unearth some more bargains - I think they will struggle badly.
