I think the Setanta Shield is a League Cup for Conference sides.

It's good to see the Premier League's site kept completely up to date  Still not showing any global tv listings and have us down to play Saturday. Muppets.

For those thinking of travelling by train you are basically screwed with the new KO time for Utd. Last trains out of Piccadilly are as follows :

19:24 dep
22:52 arr

0 changes - 3:28 duration

19:46 dep
00:21 arr

2 changes (London Euston/London Paddington) - 4:35

Train up there is the 10:10 direct from Reading that gets in at 13:59. Cheapest fares for this entire journey are £49 open single there and £12 back on the 19:24. Looks like the pub for me then

I'm glad the man u game has been moved to the sunday. It means I won't have to make a decision between going to twickenham for england v france or going to old trafford. It shall be a good weekend sports-wise, a win each for england and reading will do nicely. 8)

 You're probably right, unfortunately I can see england being humilated at the world cup. we have no cohesion, there's no inventiveness in our passing, its just side to side. No doubt we will be relying on wilko to get us out of difficulty again.

What follows is a bit of inside TV geekery that will be of interest to few but is worth putting up for their benefit; all others are of course free to skip it. To summarise the news of the day for the benefit of all, the following four matches have been moved for UK TV:

Man Utd (A) to Sunday 12th August at 4:00 PM
Chelsea (H) to Wednesday 15th August at 8:00 PM
Derby (H) to Sunday 7th October at 2:00 PM
Arsenal (H) to Monday 12th November at 8:00 PM

With that, here's an opportunity to skip what follows --and not to blame me afterward for the ninety precious seconds of a life wasted if one doesn't...

Rawlie19 It's good to see the Premier League's site kept completely up to date  Still not showing any global tv listings and have us down to play Saturday. Muppets.

Very true, although to the best of my recollection they don't as a matter of course provide specific listings by country --instead, they display a link to the licensed TV platforms' websites in each country, to which one can look for listings as matchdays draw closer (but then, in the case of the U.S., they only list Fox Soccer Channel as a licensed platform, when in fact Setanta North America began to show a sizable number of Premier League games from the beginning of last season and is contractually committed to continue to do so for several seasons to come; muppets indeed).

It makes at least some sense that they don't provide a country-by-country listings breakdown, as local platforms do have a measure of choice in regard to which matches they show when there are several going live at the same time, and they often delay programming choices until a few weeks or even days before the matches are played.

Point being, regular programming decisions about the globe are made in the countries where the matches are being shown and are not made at Premier League HQ (except in cases of stand-alone matches moved for UK TV, which of course has a ripple effect on programming globally).

As a practical matter, in order to keep a global listings page accurate and up to date, the Premier League would have to have someone track global listings and be on standby to post updates and changes as and when reported by platforms worldwide...which certainly would be helpful, and any unpaid intern with half a brain could make it one's regular chore, but I somehow doubt that it happens anytime soon.

Oh, and anyone who'll be in the States for business or pleasure during the upcoming season should be advised that we get three of the 3:00 Saturday kickoffs live here, with at least one other and usually two shown on a few hours' delay, and stand-alone matches are in almost every instance screened live on one platform or the other.

Point being, the fact that RFC have had just three of the 3:00 Saturday kickoffs thru November moved for UK TV may not sit particularly well at home, but it is not at all bad news for Royals living here or those who plan to visit; we should be seeing plenty, here and elsewhere, as was the case last season --and that, with this being a global thang and all anymore, is good news.

As is my advice to all in a similar predicament Stranded, get thee to Scruffy Duffy's on 8th Avenu by Hell's Kitchen for that one or, if you'd rather have breakfast, there is a nice diner/bar further downtown on the same Ave that will be showing the game, still how can you not have hot wings for breakfast?
