RFC and the Premiership Barclaycard

by Jerry St Clair » 20 Jul 2007 09:52

Just in case anyone else has bought their season ticket using the Barclaycard 0% interest offer...........

I had my statement through yesterday and Barclaycard charged me interest on the season ticket purchase. Phoned them this morning and Barclaycard have laid the blame firmly at the door of RFC. Apparently, when RFC send transactions to Barclaycard they are not defining themselves as a "football club" which they should.

The woman on the phone said she'd spoken to quite a few other Reading fans about this.

So, Barclaycard Royals, check your statements.

Didn't you know we're a hotel and conference complex with a rather nice football club out of the back?

C'mon you waiters.

I've not got my new statement but when I got the first one it had estimeated interest for this month so questioned it then. The doris claimed I shouldn't be charged but we'll see very soon

Should definately have no interest on your statement.... providing you have only used the card to purchase your ST and nothing else - and that the card was clear when you used it.

Oh and btw, its Barclaycard Football now...

I had the same problem and they credited back the interest the next month which acted as the next months payment.

Who did you call - you didn't get a name or anything did you. I called barclaycard and they're a bunch of useless tossers.

It's not an open ended offer though is it...

It's only for football season tickets...?

Yes, but you only have to pay it off by making the minimum payment each month, it will never attract interest. So in theory it is completely open-ended, because by the end of this season you'll not have paid it off in full, and you can then buy next season's on the same barclaycard.

Of course your minimum payment would go up....

and it's limited by your credit limit, but even so, it's a good deal.
( provided it works)

SORTED:

RFC COMMENTS: (paraphrased) Not our problem, go swivel.

But if this happens to you.

Don't ring Barclaycard cust services. Dial 01604 234234 and select option 5.

THE ISSUE: RFC encode the transaction as ' MISCELLANEOUS PERSONAL SERVICES' - thanks for nothing RFC

I think the Sales Centre Staff are saying that they are a bunch of wan*ers, but they do it to other people not to themselves.
