Huntley & Palmer Curo was sent off for squaring up to and pushing Sidwell after he shouted Jacks I believe. It was QPR at home on 18th of December '04

I felt sorry for him to be honest..

It was unsportsmanlike, and I could understand why Curo was so upset.

Given the opinions of half-wits on here, I expect Sidwell'll get a poor reception, which is unfortunate. I'll be clapping him as he always gave his all and never let anyone down, even when he knew he was leaving. I don't think we'll miss him much though as we've brought in some good players and I'd be very happy if he played as I think it'd weaken them and give us more of a chance of a good result.

Considering Curo did exactly the same as Sidders and is hailed as a king whenever he returned to play against us. It wouldn't surprise me.

Before anyone says 'it was a different scenario' please remember that Curo had a one year extension on the table and said that he was after more security in his deal. He then sodded off to Korea for more money and a longer contract. At the very least, Sidwell has moved onto a far better team with a chance of winning real honours

I will neither clap, cheer or berate him. He's gone now, move on.
He was part of our most successful team and for that I will always look back at him fondly but he's gone now so couldn't give a toss about him.

Scarface I just want us to beat Chelsea and Sidwell to get boo'd when he touches the ball. Nothing over the top, just the usual stick ex-players get.

He isn't in the same league when it comes to legendry status as Curo.

Whats the odds of Harps shouting 'Jacks' at Sidders...?...

Anybody who gave the service to RFC that Sidwell did deserves a good reception on his return. He was an important part of our best ever team, he decided he didn't want to stay but gave his all while he played out his contract. What does this tell us? Reading are not the biggest or best football team in the country. Let's not blame that fact on Sidwell.

I won't be going to the game. I've got a wife and small child to support and have to try and do the best for myself and them, which means I cannot afford to go, unless I gain employment with one of the big four industries in my field of expertise..............

For a start Curo didnt join a rival team??? he went abroad, plus what went on last season with hunty and chelsea and the way the chelsea manager conducted himself i cant see why sidwell would even what to talk to the nut job. We all know what he said about hunty and our club. If sidwell went to newcastle or villa i wouldnt have a problem even though they are our rivals too.

Well said. A decent player in a decent team.

Curo on the other hand the scorer of "that" goal, which pretty much turned our fortunes around, plus being excellent in a mediocre team.

But to asnwer the original question: no I wouldn't boo. The lad deserves a cheer after doing so well for us. But after the whistle blows he's nothing special and will get neither boos nor applaud.

floyd__streete The only person I will be booing by the way is Seol.

FFS, why are you going to boo one of our players? There is no reason. Seol i reckon will live up to his reputation as a good player and not like some people think as a tosh player. He'll do well...

Well said. He doubled his wages, and he has a chance to play with one of the top teams in the game. Who on this board would turn down a move in those circumstances? He did a great job for the team from his first day to his last, and he should be appreciated for that.

Rivals? How is a top two club our rivals? If you had said West Ham, then I would have agreed with you as we have a little history with them. Now you just look stupid

Rivals = teams in the same division.

Last time I looked that included Chelsea (who we will be playing twice in the league).

In divisions outside the Premier League perhaps. Chelsea are not our rivals, they're just a team we have to play twice.

So points are not available to Reading in those two games? Crikey, think I'll stay at home next Wednesday then.

Oh christ, of course points are available.

Chelsea are not our rivals though as, like or not we are not in competition with them in any real sense. Our rivals are team's such as Fulham's, Boro's, Wigan's etc - teams that we look to finish ahead of to stay up.
