1960 August 2006. Reading's first ever game in the top division. Riggott takes out Kitson's knees with a two-footed aerial assault. Riggott gets yellow. Kitson gets six months in rehab.
August 2007. First game of second season. Kitson takes out Evra with stupid lunge. Gets red.
Anything to do with crimes at the Madstad compared with Old Trafford I wonder?

papereyes Not so much quick, but someone strong and with the ability not only to hold the ball up but get to it first and do something with it once he's got it. Kitson could have had a profitable 20 minutes if he'd stayed on.
With two injuries in a key position, we already look light there.
That's what the *right* investment in the *right* position sorts out.
4-5-1 on Weds anyway, so its Everton that we're worrying about.

Kitson has never had any joy when played as a lone striker for us. The only one who has a certain Nicky Forster. and to an extent Leroy did ok a few times last season.
I REALLy hope we don't go 4-5-1 Wednesday. There was a reaosn today, but first home game, big game, i hope we play to win it.

I agree it is a valuable part of kitson's game that he chases back. With it being old trafford and sky present, stiles was never going to make any other decision that to send kitson off, bet stiles posed for the cameras as wellAlan Partridge Seen Kitson make that sort of challenge a 100 tiems before and catch the guy a few times. It was no different to any of those ones. It's clumsy, it's a foul, it's a booking.
Styles couldn't get the card out quick enough, still he got to be the centre of attention so he'll be happy.
Don't blame Kits, it's his way of playing and if you take it away he isn't the same. My concern is now for wednesday and the next couple of games after that. I naturally presume Long will play now. doesn't fill me with anticipation but there we go. Lots of people have said it (myself included) we are a decent striker short, today was evidence of it, a really quick striker is needed to play 4-5-1 effectively without just 'parking the bus' in front of your goal. Now with Lita AND Kitson out for the next 3 matches goals are a worry.

Skyline Be honest, if that had been Evra against Kitson at the Mad Stad you'd all have been baying for blood.

Spot on.
It was a very bad challenge. A borderline red, but I wasn't at all surprised when it was shown.

If it had been Evra against Kitson then no way on God's green Earth would Evra have been sent off.
That's what irritates me, and is probably the main difference I noted last season between the football league and the premier league. It's just not a level playing field in that respect.
