You forgot to mention he only got Evra's ankle and that Evra went on to complete the match without any sign of a limp from what I recall.

Seen Kitson make that sort of challenge a 100 tiems before and catch the guy a few times. It was no different to any of those ones. It's clumsy, it's a foul, it's a booking.

Styles couldn't get the card out quick enough, still he got to be the centre of attention so he'll be happy.

Don't blame Kits, it's his way of playing and if you take it away he isn't the same. My concern is now for wednesday and the next couple of games after that. I naturally presume Long will play now. doesn't fill me with anticipation but there we go. Lots of people have said it (myself included) we are a decent striker short, today was evidence of it, a really quick striker is needed to play 4-5-1 effectively without just 'parking the bus' in front of your goal. Now with Lita AND Kitson out for the next 3 matches goals are a worry.

I have faith in Long causing the odd surprise and we could well make a move to sign a striker as emergency cover on either a loan or permanent deal.

The window isn't closed yet.

Kits was unlucky, he misstimed his challenge badly and when a utd player goes down like that at Old Trafford you can't expect much else. I'd be upset if Kits let it affect him. He'll be back in a few games time as will Lita hopefully. Then we can really push on and rack up some points.

With a bit of luck Kits will only get a 2 match ban and will be ready to single handedly demolish West Ham with 4 goals this time.

depends who is the 5th midfielder. 451 works if you have a very attacking midfielder always looking to get forward to support the lone striker. Who fits that bill?

I agree it is a valuable part of kitson's game that he chases back. With it being old trafford and sky present, stiles was never going to make any other decision that to send kitson off, bet stiles posed for the cameras as well

When I saw the title of this thread I thought it was going to be about the irony of Kitson always moaning about the bad tackles put in on him, when he goes and does something like he did yesterday which is just as bad.

Instead I find messages saying 'it wasn't that bad really' and 'you can't take that away from his game' and such like.

If it had been Evra against Kitson then no way on God's green Earth would Evra have been sent off.

That's what irritates me, and is probably the main difference I noted last season between the football league and the premier league. It's just not a level playing field in that respect.

Yep totally agree.

That challenge was absolutely no worse than a million other challenges that strikers make in that situation. Not nice but not a red card, I hope we appeal.
