Cup games on the internet

Well the title says it really, do the BBC have the rights to broadcast local commentary over the internet for cup games (or any non-Premiership games)?

Last year we only had the rights to broadcast FA Cup matches online and I believe it's the same this year, so I expect tonight's Carling Cup broadcast won't be available, I'm afraid. Sorry about that... as I always say with these enquiries, we'd love to be able to offer it online but it's not something we can change.

Thanks for letting me know. I'm not going to listen to the world commentary so I guess i'll be watching telly with regular checks of the score on Gilette Soccer Special.

Is it linked to the unique way in which the BBC is funded?
