I wouldn't.

I'd want us to ask for the following:

£10 million
Zamora
An admission of guilt over their tapping up of Alan Pardew
An admission of guilt over the Tevez Affair
10 points to be given to us from their points total.
And also £100 to every single Reading fan.

I take that as one of two things,

Shorey doesn't want to go and Reading told West Ham not to bother, or Reading laughed in West Hams at the price offered.

Or Coppell thought the Mullins part was a joke.

Nicky Shorey has been the centre of much speculation over the last few days, and the boss said, "That's just it, speculation.

"I can't deny West Ham have made an offer, but I look at the price of players and I consider the offer they made as being derisory, not serious.

"It's an offer made to put the whole issue in the public domain, an invitation to cause unrest in a way.

"I long for the days when we used to do business by phone, you talk about it, a deal's not accepted and nobody knows.

"Now there's a way of doing things, you make an offer in writing, it comes out and everybody knows about it. You have to respond to it.

"I think the player is happy at Reading, but speculation about your future is bound to be unsettling. I hope he's playing for us on Saturday, let's see."

Did Shorey play last week ?

Not such a big deal if you consider fitness...

I agree it's good news, but only if Shorey starts playing like he did last season now his future is more settled.

Coppell should do what Boothroyd did with Marlon King, slap a huge transfer price for him. To say he is worth 4-8 million pounds is ridiculous. Compared to the prices of players going now, he is at least 10 million, and if Mullins is thrown in, should increase it by at least 2 million.

As much as I hate to say it, I can see Shorey leaving before tomorrow nights deadline. Bid has been declined, but it is only a matter of time before WHU or Newcastle (insert numerous other interested clubs) offer a sum that both the club and the Mad Man himself cant turn down. I believe around £8m would be the 'hand-bite-off' sum. West Ham have not spent too much in relation to what they have gained, so adding an extra £2m-£3m isnt really an issue to them. I hope I am wrong as this would be the first player I would be genuinely gutted had left in a long time. Unfotunately they have money to burn, can afford bigger wages, but we dont. Football is a money game now, loyalty isnt.
