The England international has refused to sign an extension to his current contract, which runs out at the end of next season.

Royals turned down a “derisory“ £4million bid from West Ham in August for the left-back. But the Hammers may test Royals’ resolve again when the transfer window reopens in January.

However, Hammond insists Reading are under no pressure to sell their stars.

Royals’ director of football said: “I don’t anticipate anyone moving on if the move does not suit Reading Football Club.

How long do sell-on clauses normally last for? Shorey's been with us for nearly seven years now (joined in early Feb 2001) - would a sell-on clause still be valid after that amount of time?

I believe most sell-on clauses are valid for the length of the players contract. Since I can't believe we gave NS a 7 year contract, then the original one must've expired. On that basis I'm not sure why Orient would get anything at all.
