Player marks

by Chaney » 01 Sep 2007 18:52

Bloody painful but needs to be done

USA 6 distribution as poor as ever, but given extra point for the 1on1 saves he made

Murts 5 gave his all as you would expect but as with many of his team mates fell well short

Doobs 4 pulled all over the place by Bellamy, how SC can justify picking him over Bikey is a mystery

Inga 5 steady but obvious he was struggling to cope with inadaquate cover.

Shorey 5 as he already signed for the Hammers?

Fae 7 out of position, but our best player (not hard) IMO good touch but his crossing let him down

Harper 3 was he playing?

Gunnar 5 SC was quoted as saying he deserves his chance..hes had it now..back to the bench please!

Hunt 6 cant really argue with the guys commitment, but the link up play with Shorey and Harper was a major disappoinment

Lita 5 when he learnes to stay on his feet and hold up the ball he can go right to the top..but on todays performance hes a million miles away

Doyle 4 a player that gives everything to the cause..needs a goal..awful penalty

Slightly harsh on some.
Such as Harper. Was not the worst player.

How the hell can you say that about Harper and mark him so low?

Once again today he gave his all. Together with his work rate and effort, I rated him as one of our few class players today.

As for USA, how many points are you going to knock off him for gifting them the first goal and putting us on the back foot after just 7 minutes? Eeven Sir Steve aimed some veiled criticism at him by announcing that USA thought he could have done more to prevent the first goal.

How can you give every player a rating of 1 ?

What would have happened if it was more than three nil ?

They were all pretty rubbish - I couldn't have chosen our "best" player from that lot. I'll give them all a 3.

Sounds a lot like a discussion of Hughesy...

Harper wasn't our worst player today - but his air shot just summed up our play today.

Chaney Bloody painful but needs to be done

Why does it need to be done? As if randomly plucked numbers next to a player's name on a fans website is going to make any difference to anything? If it was ice skating, sure...... If we must do this then personally I'd say that every Reading player was a number 2 today.

USA 6 Good 1 on 1 saves , apart from that the usual poor choice of distribution or slow.

Murts 5 Gave his all , just didn't look with the game.

Doobs 2 Where are you Doobs? Awful perfomance , was losing headers to Bellamy ffs. Either get into the game or get out. Woeful control as well.

Inga 5 There but suffered from not having a decent partner.

Shorey 5 Always looked to play it out wide.

Fae 6 Average , drifted inside too much , played Ok considering he was out of position.

Harper 4 Pretty crap. The miskick at the end summed up his contribution. Played 2 or 3 good passes to Fae.

Gunnar 4 Surely a bench player. Hasn't made the grade unfortueantley

Hunt 5 Poor corners and just keeps trying to run through players. It wasn't working , needed to change his game.

Lita 5 Dropped to the deck far too often.

Doyle 4 Ran hard again , lacking confidence hopefully.

Kitson 7 Ran well and played some good touches. Motm for me , which says a lot.

Convey 6.5 Played well when he came on and sparked the left side up slightly.

Cisse 4 Didn't notice.

Rubbish - did you not notice the word 'class'? He played some fantastic passes today.

Still, the boo boys need someone to replace Seol and it's a bit more difficult for them to criticise Lita nowadays after his performances for the England U21s.

Agreed - tried hard, failed.

Seriously. People need to get off Harper's back.
He did better today than a lot of our players; practically the only player who I actually applauded individually at the end of the game.

Fukks sake lads, it wasn't that bad!

I HATE Harper but thought he did okay today apart from two things - 1) giving the ball away for the first goal and 2) the airshot.

I'm not having that about Duberry either - he won most things in the air.

Thought Doyle was notably poor today and Fae didn't really know what he was supposed to be doing.

Oh well.

Duberry hardly won anything in the air? Ashton just held Duberry aside for every header and won the ball. Even Bellamy was winning balls from Duberry in the 2nd half.

Hahnemann 5 - Nowhere near first goal and put us on back foot

Murty 4 - For all the huff and puff was nowhere when Etherington bagged his 2 goals

Shorey 5 - Didn't get too many crosses in

Ingimarrson 5

Duberry 5

Fae 6

Harper 5 - effort but no result

Gunnarrson 4 - Ineffective

Hunt 5 - Ineffective

Doyle 4 - Invisible except for penalty miss

Lita 4 - Got nothing for all his throwing himself on ground

subs

Kitson 7 - won penalty and caused a few problems

Convey 7 - We actually started creating chances which we hadn't before he came on

Cisse 4 - didn't notice him

Summary.

Harper should appear in the Taxi section on soccer am for his miss I expected it to be put into row FF as usual.

Are teams working us out and nullifying our threat?
