The Colonel Should be free anyway. Its not not like you get a badge and monthly magazine with your 'membership'.

Agree - good move by the club - it will speed up the home games selling up with access to more members.

I'm sure that they already have thousands of dormant members on their books.

Reducing the price of the tickets themselves might have more effect on sales. Trouble is they can't do that for fear of upsetting the season ticket holders that they have already bled a fortune from.

Nail hit firmly on the head, ST holders are guaranteed their seat at every game, one day they will suss it out and charge more for this privilige.

It's starting to look as though it will be more of a punishment than a privilege this season!

I was bouyed on the 8 hour journey home yesterday by the thought that the Mad Stad will be packed to the rafters for the next two home games with Woodcote's legion of fans who would have loved to pay for a season ticket but wouldn't buy a membership card for £10.

The total absence of empty seats will be all the proof needed by those with the thinking power of Jade Goody and the vision of Stevie Wonder that demand hasn't fallen and the extention is desperately required

Perhaps next time, Schards, you should find a longer pair of arms to delve into those deep pockets of yours and invest in the convenience of a 50 minute flight ........................it does wonders for the mind

In recent times, Wigan have brought very few fans with them so, we have no chance of hitting 22k if that proves to be the case again.

I'm delighted that the club have, at long last, removed this charge that only acts to deter casual fans.......................it should be removed permanently.

This will be almost certainly our lowest league gate of the season and if it tops 20k with us languishing in the relgation zone, expansion will remain the no brainer it has been for the last year beyond the gates of Schards Towers.

You'll be sure to point out all of these sold out matches won't you Woodcote?

Finch RORLoyaLOL, self styled "Reading's Greatest Fan".

As with players, when it comes to supporters, form is temporary but class is permanent.

At least you stuck with the club through thick and err....thick.

What would it take for one side to be shown to be right or wrong in all this?

Sub-20k?

Consistently lower attendences all season long?

Woodcote Royal When have we ever sold out against Wigan?

Last seasons attendance 21954

I'm told we sold out every HOME TICKET for every home league game last season.

We already haven't for the last two and i'm pretty certain we wont for the next two.

The size of the away support at the Mad Stad is utterly irrelevent to this discussion.

Oh, and didn't the manager of the ticket office say something about how much harder it was to sell tickets this year. You'd better put him right Woodcote and tell him demand hasn't actually fallen, unless of course, you are the only person left on the planet who still believes this.

We were always going to lose some of those who created the stampede before our first season in the top flight but now some of those are starting to fall away we can get to work on a catchment area that is the envy of most clubs in the land.

Getting rid of this charge will be a major step in the right direction but it won't create a sell out against Wigan.

I sometimes wonder if they hand out blinkers to everyone who enters the East Stand but there really is a big wide world out there that knows we are here and will be drawn by bigger attractions than Wigan.

With so many STH's, no gate next week will serve as proof that the ground should not be expanded to at least 30k and I will be amazed if this first stage doesn't take place even if we're relegated.

We have corporate hospitality so stacked out that offices are being converted to accommodate those happy to spend £2,000+ for a seat at the world's richest league and this will expand into the East as soon as it's ready.

Meanwhile, the South stand can revert to an all away facility if demand really sinks to the levels envisaged by shortsighted fans like your self.

As I said, this remains a no-brainer for all of those with half a grip on the potential now at this clubs disposal.

Don't be cynical.

I'm sure, as we speak, the tens of thousands of fans that Woodcote Royal speaks of, who are desperate to see a game but don't have a member card, are descending on the Mad Stad to take up this offer. After all, it's not the holiday season any more.

mmmm....nope....i would if we weren't playing so shit.

Out of interest I see there were less than 40,000 at Sunderland, in a 49,000 capacity stadium. They are planning on increasing the capacity to (i believe) 56,000 and eventually 80,000 (source - member of staff at Sunderland yesterday). Is this prudent given they seem to be hitting not much more than 80% capacity at the moment ?
