JimGRoyal 1 Lower ticket prices
2 See our players performing against their true peers
3 Less Prima Donna behaviour by same
4 No need to go through building stadium extension, walking through dust etc.
5 No chance of getting into Europe
6 Parachute payments and lower player wages means JM has smile on face
7 A £2m player is a big deal
8 Gary Lineker doesn t need to smirk through the word "Reading"
9 Lawro forgets who we are
10 SSC forgets who we are

11 Play some of the biggest teams in the country

12 Easier to park, quicker to get away
13 Easier to get tickets
14 Press coverage is based on the team, not the big names visiting

15 Four more home games each season.
16 The end of season play-offs to fear/look forward to.

17 Fewer games moved for TV
18 An extra league cup game each season
19 The chance to beater a highr league team in the Cup
20 The permanent ability to sneer at Premier League teams with glory-hunting fans who stop being fans as soon as the going gets tough

Dirk Gently 18 An extra league cup game each season

I thought the only time we used to get more than 1 league cup game was if they were doing 2 legged games !

I would prefer it if Reading got relegated.

Your turn.

Cookie 11 Sit where you like and not be shackled to some snot-gobbling-neanderthal for a whole season. :D

Although for those of you who've only been with us since promotion you'll be interested to know the whole ground has been 'reserved' seating since before you started coming

In days gone-by you could have moved wherever you wanted such was the Royals following then.

Any road you doth protest too much. you don't sit in row P north stand by any chance, and make unreasonably loud grunts as soon as there is the mere hint of a bad moment for one of the team.

And I don't suppose you've got loads of hair growng out your ears and nostrils?

For the football club, there are no "benefits" being in the Championship or outside the premier league at all; for fans who think there are benefits to being in the Championship, well, its a free country! You are free to watch Championship football whenever you want.

Personally, I'm really, genuinely not bothered - I will watch us whether we are in the premier league, the championship or Conference South.

I have no doubt that we will stay up this season, but if we do get relegated, it isn't the end of the world (its only the premier league obssessed media who like to portray that it is!!).

So, after 6 games, chill out, enjoy watching some of the best players in World football (and Titus bramble) and understand that the roller coaster ride that is being a football fan is underway again.

Well I didn't protest about anything !

And no, I don't sit in the North Stand.

And no, I don't have much hair growing anywhere...

And actually I tend to have a fairly positive approach to football (and laugh at people who can chose to spend huge sums of money and large amounts of time doing something which they seem to hate !), so you and your dad must sit near someone else....

As alluded to earlier: More games played at the proper time of 3pm on a Saturday.

Yes please !!

I hate my kids missing out on games we have paid for because they get shifted to times they cannot go to. 3pm on Saturday is when football should be played... back home for wrestling with Kent Walton and Dixon of Dock Green !!

I didn't say I wanted us to be relegated. The post was a kind of tongue in cheek reaction to what I see as demoralisation setting in. My guess is players are thinking

1 we're not being paid like we're 8th best team in the Country
2 if Shorey can't get away to be paid more, what chance do I stand?
3 Reading can't attract top notch players, so what am I doing here???

All this is understandable after last season's success. Maybe if we'd struggled in releg. zone last season this season would ve actually been easier.

The only way out of this is to go down to get back up later with a bunch of different new hungry faces, or for the players to regain confidence and alter their (maybe sub-conscious) eccentric view of their place in the soccer world right now.

We can help the club and players but they ve in the end gotta fix it themselves too.
