Embarrassingly enough, I read all of that. It was rubbish, not really worth the effort, some inaccuracies in that article.

One of the most dullest threads in a long time!!

"The ‘plastics’ as Reading call their JCL Muppets are already voting with their feet, probably going back to watching Chelsea or Liverpool. Empty seats have been witnessed this season at the Madejski. Unlike at the JJB though, the Reading marketing machine immediately kicked into action offering free membership cards with every Wigan ticket purchased, thereby ensuring the stadium remains full of painted faced, easy chanting, Soccer AM, rumblestix banging kids, creating all the atmosphere of an England Schoolboy match. What you can be sure of though is on Saturday they’ll be queuing out of the door of their megastore, putting thousands more into the club coffers."

In the first season we were promoted to the Premier League, I struggled to understand the comments about purple kits and JCLs; I naively just saw this as an increase in support from those who wanted to watch Wigan. Not being around Wigan my only Wigan conversations were only ever with my dad. Some of the old guard from Elm Park whilst immensely proud of their achievements look on in shame at some of the antics of their own plastics.

People starting to see us for what we really are, alad and finerain saw this a long time ago. Worst supporters in the top two divisions IMO

Daniella you surely can't believe that capacity crowd including some kids and freaks is worse than 6,000 empty seats?

Don't care anymore, saw this a long time ago and said it until I was blue in the face. I actually defended our club against every opposition supporter who called us plastic, in the end I realised it was me that was wrong and they were right. Our support is embarassing and just lacks passion and tradition, full of soccer AM fans who will vanish when the club goes through rough times.
Football is no longer enjoyable to me, its predictable, money orientated and I don't like the sort of people I see in the Reading concourse these days. Its no longer about getting pissed with your dad and mates, travelling up and down the country and seeing some traditional historical characteristic grounds, going mental when you scored with like minded people around you. Its about happy clapping high priced games in all seater stadiums where bear is banned and standing will get you kicked out. No soul to any of the plastic grounds you visit either. Thats not the reason I was attracted to the game. If you're all happy yourselves with what its become fair enough, whatever makes you happy, but the game in england is dead to me.

Somebody that promotes how support should be, yet showing the complete opposite in walking away.

The burger vans will feel the loss the most.

Coming from FineRain, and you say lacking passion, when you keep talking about bloody Rangers? Lack of passion supporting 2 sides!

Were we to get relegated, we would probably end up with a constant 15,000 - 18,000 fans.

If Wigan were relegated, they would end up out of business.

HTH.

For some reason that's really cheered me up. Cheers.
