Jeffers217 2. Convey? Unless we start playing him he is gonna put in a transfer request. Him and Kitson have been light yers the best players for us this season.

Being a little bit less injured might have helped his chances too.

I agree with these two

perhaps we should add Murty to the list
he's too slow and adds oxf*rd all going forward

Hunty's now getting on my tits as he can't get a decent cross in

and Hahneman is making too many school boy mistakes

I think you are being a bit harsh on Marcus.

The midfield had a very poor day so the very, very poor defence were over-run. Marcus can only do so much but when he has no confidence in the players in front of him, he will try and cover for them. Probably explains when he came racing off his line and didn't get there.

Peter Schmeical was the best goalie I have ever seen but when Bruce and Pallister were having a bad day in front of him, he used to get caught out coming for a ball he would not normally go for. A similar thing is happening now but our defence is missing every game, not a few a year, therefore making Marcus look a lot worse then he is.

For the record, I don't think he is the greatest goalie we have ever had or anything, but putting A Fed in goal behind that defence will only make him look bad as well.

I think Murty is playing for his leadership qualities, which are missing at the moment. Does anyone remember how bad we looked last year when he wasn't playing? When he came back the whole defence tightened up. (If we had a fit right wing, Rosenior would be playing at RB by now). We really need to tighten up the centre midfield, maybe play 4-5-1 next week (at home!) and try and get some confidence back. If we do get some confidence back, hopefully we will be OK.

Jeffers217 It is incredible how all the fans know which team we should put out but the gaffer don't change it.

1. IMO Bikey will be even better than Sonko- remember when sonko first came to us in place of Adie Williams- he was piss poor, worst defender I had ever seen but look at how class he is now. Bikey last season took care of Rooney and Ronaldo and took care of Johnson this season. Yes he is poor in patches but boy can he tackle. He is 10 times the player Duberry is.

2. Convey? Unless we start playing him he is gonna put in a transfer request. Him and Kitson have been light yers the best players for us this season.

3. Kitson- always has been class, when people were banging on about Doyle and Lita i knew Kitson would be better for us this year. Why no prem teams have come in for him before I will never know.

4. DROP THE CAPTAIN- he is far too slow for this league this season.

Well you got it half right I guess. Bikey must come in and so must Convey (although it's been hard to stick him in recently because he's been injured as Platypuss pointed out). As for dropping Murty, he wasn't the problem yesterday and who do we have to bring in for him? And before you say Rosenior, please don't tell me you'd stick John Oster on the right flank, or James Henry.

Surely paying someone who is used to a right wing role and is an attcking player, is better than playing a right back out of position?

Oster was excellent against Chelsea, IMO.

I have to 100% agree with the comment about ivar getting turned easily, its happened all to frequently this season, he gets tight to a player and they get the ball to feet spin and leave him for dead. I think the problem with ivar and doobs playing together is that they are not quick and struggle with the pace and movement of top class players.

Exactly - people on here are way too harsh on Oster - but we are lone voices my friend, lone voices...

Its Ivar that we need to replace - he's just not the defender he was last season!!!

When's Sonko back - thats what we've really missed

I know we coped without Sonko at the back end of last season but we were riding high on confidence, now thats gone, does anyone genuinely believe he can cut it at this level?

Royalee Just f*ck off yeah?

Although 7-4 flattered us today, at least there's still no way Coppell can play either of those clowns again next week, so a good result in some ways.

Aah, another example of the intellectual excellence that is Bournemouth Uni.

You'd disagree then. Gunnar should start against Derby next week?

He is utterly out of his depth IMO

Alan Partridge Alright our defense WAS WOEFUL as a unit today, but i'm not having that Duberry was the worst. Ivar and Murty were horrific and Marcus not much better.

Boris - oh dear!

totally agree with everything there

i remember stating here last season that players ala murty/ingi were the weak link when we went up, and irrespect of last season i maintained that. just because they had one season of decent play doesnt mean a thing- sometimes players just have a season where they hit the heights professionally and they will not replicate it again- i argued this consistently and was challenged with 'how can you prove this, how can you tell' well the proof is staring us in the face....

You're right. They just got lucky against some of the worlds best players last season.

Daniella Gunnarsson is absolutely woeful...shocking. Was at fault for about 4 of the goals. He was pants against wigan aswell in gifting agahowa that one on one. How he is in a premiership squad, let alone starting lineup is absolute baffling

Not only that, but Reading gave him a contract extension until 2009.

He will be starting games next season when we are in the Championship

I think that it was obvious to all who saw the Wigan game that the players confidence is shot to shreads. These players do not become bad overnight but the lack of confidence is causing the problem and mistakes are being made leading to goal after goal. We all saw the quality strike from downing in the opening game of the season. I remember thinking 'welcome to the premiership' after that we pulled up our socks stuck out our chests and said 'bring it on!'. The trouble is that is not working this season. Add to that squad players becoming regular first teamers and there is our problem. If players were not good enough to get a run in the championship how can they be good enough for the Premier League? Answer is they can't.

Gunnar needs the bench as do Duberry and maybe Murty/Ingimarrsson.

Come back when you actually bother to go to games as you're clearly an armchair.

Its easy to blame the defence....... But we attack as a unit and we defend as a unit and since Sidwell, the backbone, the rock, the solidifier has gone the unit doesn't look as strong.

The fact is Sidwell was a great all round midfielder. He wasn't spectacular but he ran the midfield efficiently well and was strong in all aspects. He was a good attacker without being spectacular, he was a solid defender without being a man mountain, he was a tidy passer without being able to play Stevie Gerrard style raking passes or Fabregas style classy pinpointers, he was an athletic, box to box midfield man who did every job particularly well. He gave good cover to the defence and didn't allow them to ever become badly exposed and he provided good support to the attack and made sure that there was someone there picking up loose balls and spreading the play so that we can get forward quickly.

He is proving to be a big miss......... He had the stamina and the strength to do a good all round job for 90 minutes.

Gunnarsson doesn't have the same all round capability to go box to box and stop the defence being exposed and to provide good support to the attack.

Gunnarsson can only cover one aspect. He either sits back and defends and keeps our defense tight but then we become toothless in attack or he attacks recklessly, cannot get back and the defence get ripped to shreds.

That is the problem that needs to be resolved. We are not good enough to carry anybody. We need 11 top notch players.

The loss of Sidwell has resulted in us losing our solidity as a unit.

We know all about Gunnarsson and we know that he cannot be the answer. He is a 30 minute player.

I HOPE FAE CAN STEP UP TO THE PLATE. He is our last hope until January. We really need Fae to prove he is good enough.

Coppell may as well start playing him so that he can assess exactly what type of reinforcements we will need in January.

In a perverse way it was a good thing to concede so many goals the "shock " to the system that Coppel received from that result will hopefully force him to change the side , a 2-0 or 3-0 defeat might not have necesarilly done that, as that was the result we were expecting to lose by anyway.

Although we must commend Coppell for the loyalty he has shown to the players during this bad run, conceeding 9 goals in the last 4 league games, and fortunate only to concede 1 at home to Wigan, against a side like Portsmouth that had a strong home record, I thought Coppell would've boistered up the midfield (like at Man U) as it was very evident where the problem lied, I'm thinking Coppell was hoping that the same team would somehow sort out the problems themselves.

I'm also suprised DLC has not been mentioned in the conversation, with the defence playing as they have been recently he must be wondering what he must do to get a league game.

Well lets see what happens.
