royalsteveUke So are we suffering from second season syndrome then?
there is no such thing.....according to STATS (would be useful if someone could post them) most promoted teams go down the first year, only 4 teams in prem histiry have gone down in the 2nd.
STATS don't lie (unless they are made up!!), media hacks do.

Only one Trevor Morley Comments from Coppell about his swearing comments.
I like the fact he says that he will be more circumspect....... does that mean he wont say anything to the press!

Man Friday Personally, I'm worried about his (non-swearing) comments. We lost 2-1 in the first half and 5-3 in the second half. By my books the second half was worst than the first but Steve seems to think that the second half was good!

SpaceCruiser I was just thinking that Coppell is most probably the longest serving manager for Reading since the days of Ian Branfoot and so checked soccerbase to check my facts:
Ian Porterfield (RIP): 1 year and 4 months
Mark McGhee: 3 years and 6 months
Jimmy Quinn/Mick Gooding: 2 years and 4 months
Terry Bullivant: 9 months
Tommy Burns: 1 year and 6 months
Alan Pardew: 3 years and 11 months
STEVE COPPELL: from next week (9th) it will be 4 years and counting....
I think that's brilliant.

kevan When SC made the same decsion to trust the squad last year he was a genius.
Based on performance last year and the information he had at the time it was a very reasonable decision to strengthen selectively and give the same squad another chance.

Right. Watford and Aidy Boothroyd stuck with each other (as did Charlton and Pardew, thought that's not quite such a good example) and it's reaping rewards at the moment. On the other hand, the Blades parted company with Warnock - a daft decision in my view - and look where they are now, despite spending a good deal more money.Top FlightGordons CummingSpaceCruiser I was just thinking that Coppell is most probably the longest serving manager for Reading since the days of Ian Branfoot and so checked soccerbase to check my facts:

I hope he wouldn't......... Because he would be more than welcome to stay in my mind!

Wasn't it the decision of Warnock to leave, rather than Sheffield Utd's decision to sack him?
