Behindu Wasn't it a club record (jointly with the sum paid for Steve Moran ?) or am I confused....

Well I cannot think of anyone else who would have cost more so it may have been a record at the time

I'm worried that Moran and Craig Maskell were the two who were our joint record. Can't work out where Nogan fitted in to the sequence of 'expensive' signings.

It doesn't fit right that Nogan was a record transfer but I cant believe that Moran or Maskell cost more or indded the same. Where's Dirk with his facts and figures when you need him!

Kitsondinho I look at Mcgoo as the first album by a band that went on to become great....the signs were there but not quite everything was fitting together the way it would in later years. Mcgoo - important yes vital - no

Looked at it the other way round McGhee's time here was his promising first album. Some good tunes, original ideas and a nice cover released on an Independent label.
He signed for a major but never captured the promise of that first release. After half a dozen follow ups, each promising to be that long awaited 'great second album' he's now on the cabaret circuit.

Aren't you confusing him with Oasis?

Darren Caskey £700,000 28/2/96
Carl Asaba £800,000 7/8/97
Bobby Convey £850,000? fee not on soccerbase.com? 23/7/04
Leroy Lita £1M 14/7/05

You have spoilt my day. Did we really pay £550,000 for Michael Meaker back in 1995?

That has reminded me of the record £25,000 we paid for Hughie Cheetham in the late seventies who struggled to make 12 appearances before being transferred to the Wokingham Town!!!

I'm fairly sure that Meaker figure is pure speculation.
I'm sure that we got Meaker plus cash in exchange for Osborne but I don;t think there was a public valuation of Meaker.

Yes the Meaker figure seems very high....but Behindu you were right re Maskell/Moran/Nogan joint record transfer fees...I'd forgotten Maskell ever played for the club.A bit like the impact Nicky Plataneur made on me.

Im sure we paid something like £750,000 for Murty when we got him, which was our record signing for a while

He cost less than Asaba, who we signed before him. So there isn't really any sense in which he was our record signing !
Other than the sense in which every player is our record signing since the last signing...
