Wealdstone away in the seventies, lost to a thrice taken penalty by a bloke called duck.

First game against non league opposition i'd seen and it hurt like hell at the time.

Can I be pedantic and ask if "lower league opposition" means lower league compared to where we are now in the premiership or lower league relating to where we were at the time. IE. if it's the former can I nominate the entire decade of 1970s and most of the 1980s?

I think the latter. At the time of the game what was the worst defeat.

That I've seen probably York or Barnet in the LDV.

I'll toss in a mention for Slough Town away in 1991 - we conceded two goals in injury time in a 3-3 draw. Travelling support approx. 200, one of whom memorably appeared on MOTD, on the field of play celebrating a Reading goal wearing his clapped out leather jacket and Zodiac Mindwarp t-shirt

I went to that match, got soaked.

Come to think of it, I would really like an away day for our FA Cup match 3rd Round at a ground like Slough's.

But we'll get a Premiership Club knowing us these days.

Grimsby in the FA Cup in 89. They were bottom of Division 4 at the time and we got a totally undeserved equaliser at their place with a dodgy own goal in the last 5 minutes to take it to a replay. We repeated the trick in the replay by getting a late undeserved equaliser only for Gilkesy to ensure justice was done with am injury time backpass straight to one of their players. Outclassed for 180 minutes by the worst team in the league. They drew the cup holders in the next round, the only consolation being that it was Wimbledon.

Shout. That Reading team was undoubtedly the worst I have ever seen. IIRC that Bishop's Stortford team went on to take Middlesbro' to a replay.
