eh?
If we did not feed cattle we could grow enough vegetables / pulses / grains / cereals / legumes and fruit to feed the world. Explains why I am a veggie.
organic?
anyone who cares about world hunger wouldnt espouse organic food.
Chemicals lead to heavier crops. However, the nutrient value of organic can be 40% higher - so you can eat less.....
cLOLueless.
organic yields are over 30% less than crops that have been treated with pesticides
since the arable land available for farming doesnt increase(without the production of genetically modified foods that can cope with dryer, hotter, wetter conditions), and already barely produces enough food to feed everyone in the world, with pesticides, how would organic food produce enough food to feed a world with double the population as it will have to in 50 years?
pesticides kill pests
without them, insect pests eat the crop, weeds swamp to food crop,
or you end up with crops full of fungal pathogens and their toxins.
and you end up with half the crop you would have had.
and looking at the soil association website
organic doesnt mean no chemicals
they are allowed to use basic, old fashioned chemicals like copper sulphate as a pesticide, which is more dangerous than any commercially available pesticide that has gone through rigorous safety evaluations, and tests on every level of animal from worm to mammal
anyway
