Destined to fail.

absolutely. Bad defeat but can't win every game, also not as surprising when I've looked at the team and Woods, Todd and Phillips all didn't play today. any team missing a key striker and both centre halves including your captain is going to struggle a bit.

Long way to go and i'd still bet on Torquay finishing above a team they've already hammered 3-0 away from home. 8)

so..no strength in depth then?...the conference is a lot tougher than the lower reaches of the football league as far as escape is concerned...

They've managed without them before a few times this season so they do have strength in depth to a degree. If I took 3 of Aldershot's best players out including both your centre halves (I'm not presuming for one minute you know who they are) think you'd win against a team in the top 5?

no problem when the points are in the bag and you are top....

Aldershot looking a very good side this year, bloke at work who is a ST holder thinks they'll be in the mix come the end of the season.

I see crowds at Aldershot have surged by a mammoth 1.5% this season, after going top.

As good as it is to see plucky minnows doing well, what are the odds of them being able to stay up if they ever made it to the league?

it tends to suggest that the crowds consist of hard core support rather than johnny come lateleys. a good platform to build on. there are some clubs in the higher echelons that are seeing a fall despite their lofty pretentions.

Or just a small club with poor support.

I refereed Aldershot few years back against Brockenhurst in the Hampshire Senior Cup - and there were 2000 that day...support has certainly died.

aldershot are a small club. that much is true. but they are progressing, and pleasing those that have been with them from day one. no supporter of a "big" club can say that.

the little club with little support stretch their lead by dint of another three points away from the rec.
