"Number 13" at City

by T.R.O.L.I. » 26 Nov 2007 07:33

Shocking effort from our fans IMO and a complete opposite to the atmosphere at Fulham. Sod all noise for the first 20 minutes and a pitiful effort for the rest of the game bar a couple of minutes after our goal and sporadic moments in the second half.

Even the support at Sunderland was better and that was without subsidised transport

Staying in the concourse with pies and cider > Sitting in the ground.

Are you really that surprised what with our away form and everything?

I'm not saying that I expected non-stop noise for 90 minutes, but not even a whimper for the first 20 minutes was shocking

I have to agree. Our support was shocking. Probably the worst away support I've been a part of. It wasn't like we were being given a hiding!

yeah the fans were quite disappointing for the first 20mins, but the players weren't really giving us anything to shout about from the first whistle.

i think some of it also might be the fact that, people who don't go to away games took advantage of the cheap travel and don't really know what its like at away games.....if you get what im trying to say! i wasn't one of those though!

I've been to Sunderland, Pompey, Fulham and now City and IMO Saturday was definitely the worst performance by number 13 of the four.

Agreed but there didn't seem to be any noise at the start of the game (i.e. first couple of minutes) where - regardless of previous performances - we're normally fairly loud (until people starting thinking it's going to another away drubbing).

i would have to agree on the whole, but i have to admit i was not in the best of moods for 90 minutes of chanting and standing due to my horrific hangover and wet feet which felt like they were going to freeze, plus the fact i was being constantly annoyed by the 'stand up sit down' man in front of me. every two minutes he would stand for no reason and then sit down again, meaning i had to follow him, i dont mind standing for the game as i did at fulham, but it was quite uncomfortable as i had some fairly old people sat down behind me who just cant do that, so sometimes it is unfair to try and make people stand for a whole game like some prick in front of me to the left was because they just cant. for the record, i did sing as and when, so dont call me a killjoy!

I think the away following is getting slightly fed up that we spend a lot of money and so far I've not seen an away game where we've actually tried to win!!!

Agreed that we weren't in good voice, but I found it hard to get going to Saturday. While they "only have one song", they sing it bloody loud so unless we were all in full voice at the same time we had no chance of getting anything going. Even Bl'army sank without a trace!

The second half was better and I'd like to thank the person who started the "We're not Real Madrid" song as it made me smile. It's probably an oldy, but I'd never heard it before.

To be fair it's always going to take 20 minutes or so for the fans to get going. That's about how long it takes to get all comfy in your seat, sort your blanket out, have a cup of hot chocolate from your thermos and digest your sandwhiches :?

true, there seemed to be just a bit of clapping when the players came out then that was it, seemed a bit dull when the players were warming up aswell, as there always seems to be a bit of chanting then, but there was none of that this time.

although i did hear a few people when the players come out shout - leroy leroy!

I think that had something to do with the decent selection of pies and alcohol in the concourse
