they will have to do better than win four nil away though to pose a lasting threat.

Hampton thrash Weston Super Mare 5-1 to go 3rd, in to 11/1 from 25's and on a rich vein of form.

not at all. the scr radio link went down on the night, and an alternative feed from radio wiltshire was flagged: the "must do better" was the considered view of the match commentators, convinced salisbury had been hard done by.

RG30 Aldershot looking a very good side this year, bloke at work who is a ST holder thinks they'll be in the mix come the end of the season.
I see crowds at Aldershot have surged by a mammoth 1.5% this season, after going top.

As good as it is to see plucky minnows doing well, what are the odds of them being able to stay up if they ever made it to the league?

it tends to suggest that the crowds consist of hard core support rather than johnny come lateleys. a good platform to build on. there are some clubs in the higher echelons that are seeing a fall despite their lofty pretentions.

Or just a small club with poor support.

aldershot are a small club. that much is true. but they are progressing, and pleasing those that have been with them from day one. no supporter of a "big" club can say that.
support doesn't seem to be progressing though, does it? You'd expect any club doing well to draw more fans, yet the "new" club isn't even at the level of support which saw the old Aldershot go bust.

I suppose for a non-league supporter, having a year of glory in the 4th tier of the professional game is what drives you on though, so good luck with it.

to paraphrase dave snooty,it beggars belief how many miss the point...there is little if any away support in the conference (there are exceptions that bring "numbers",but rare)... and of course, there are many that shy away from paying"league" prices for non- league football. there is nothing wrong with the base support:any other non league club without a league history would roll over and die for average gates like them.

But of course, Aldershot as a town does have a league history doesn't it so your point is scuwiff as ever.

In the words of Lou Christie: It's like lightning striking again.

there may no longer be cinemas there now (?), but there is a football club playing on the same ground as ever.
