facaldaqui If it is true that there is no official penalty taker, then I am horrified. In my opinion, the penalty taker should be known beforehand and should not change except for injury, at which point the designated deputy should take it. This should apply in all curcumstances, even if someone is on a hat trick or we are winning six nil.
I agree in most cases, but if the designated penalty taker is having a stinker, carrying a knock and/or is low on confidence etc it's not a good idea to make them take a penalty they're not that confident on.
It does seem a bit daft not to have some sort of pecking order for penalties within the club though. Some players are better at them than others. If I were a manager I'd want my best penalty taker know that it's his if he wants it.
As for who should be our penalty taker, I guess it's not helped by the fact so many of ours seem so keen on missing them. Kitson's alwys looked pretty comfortable with the responsibility, Shorey should be up there with his excellent left foot and I remember seeing videos of Doyle take them well with Cork when we signed him. Add in Hunt and mr 100% record Murty and you wouldn't expect us to have such a poor recent record.
Perhaps Coppell's love child will have the job until he misses now.
